Chase Sapphire Reserve benefits phone number: what an assistant can and can't get
A call4me customer's assistant called Chase Sapphire Reserve Card Benefit Services to check on a trip delay claim. It reached a person 3 minutes 12 seconds in, and learned the line won't discuss a claim without the primary cardholder. Here's the phone tree, what the representative said, and the full recording.
The short answer: the Chase Sapphire Reserve benefits phone number is 1-800-350-1697. That's the line that answers "Thank you for calling Chase Sapphire Reserve Card Benefit Services." Chase's own Sapphire travel insurance guide says: "To file a travel protection claim with a Sapphire credit card, visit chasecardbenefits.com or call 1-800-350-1697." Chase's roadside assistance page gives the same number for Roadside Assistance, which it says "is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in the U.S. and Canada." The number we called matches both pages.
This is the benefits line, not general Chase Sapphire Reserve customer service. The recorded greeting points to Assurant, and the text message it offers comes from "Virginia Surety Company Incorporated" and Assurant. The same Chase guide says that "for questions about specific claims", you contact the benefit administrator "by calling the number on the back of your card."
This got the call to a live representative:
- At "Would you like the link now? Say yes or press one. Say no, or press two", say "no" (or press 2).
- At "Please say or enter your full card number", say you don't have the full card number. Our caller asked if it could use the claim number instead. The system answered "That's all right, please hold for the next available representative."
A representative answered 3 minutes 12 seconds into the call, about 23 seconds after the transfer.
What the representative said:
- The primary cardholder has to give authorization. When the assistant said it was calling for the cardholder, she asked "are you an authorized user on the card?", then said she "would need the primary card holder just to give authorization" before going into the account.
- A claim number and the card's last four digits are not enough. "No, ma'am I would need the primary card to say that it's okay."
- There are no call reference numbers. "We don't, um, have any reference numbers, but I can notate the account, say that we talked."
- She agreed to note the follow-up. Asked to note that the assistant followed up and that the cardholder would call back directly, she said "Yes ma'am."
The call was on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. A call4me customer's assistant placed it, and the account owner agreed to publish it.

What this call did not settle
- No claim status. Nobody said whether the claim was open, approved, paid or denied, and nothing was said about payment, missing documents, a decision date or an escalation.
- We don't know what "authorization" looks like. The representative didn't say whether the cardholder must be on the line, or whether a cardholder could authorize someone ahead of time. Our caller didn't ask.
- The note isn't confirmed. She agreed to note the account, but the call doesn't show that it happened or what it says.
- We only tried one branch. We don't know what happens if you say "yes" to the text link, or enter a card number at the first prompt.
- No hours for the claims team. Chase's page gives 24/7 hours for Roadside Assistance. Nobody on the call said whether claims representatives keep the same hours.
Listen to the call
The whole call, 4 minutes 49 seconds, with the original timing. The assistant's name, the cardholder's name and the representative's first name are muted in eight short silences. No card or claim number was spoken. The long gaps at the card number prompt are real: the system kept waiting for a number.

The Chase card benefits phone tree, step by step
This is the menu as it played on October 13, 2026, calling 1-800-350-1697.
- Greeting and notices. "Thank you for calling Chase Sapphire Reserve Card Benefit Services", a recording notice that names Assurant, and "Para español, marque dos."
- A card information notice. "Our telephone systems do not retain and transfer card information."
- The text link offer. It offers a text with "a secure link to our web portal, where you can file a claim, check your status, upload documents, view your guide to benefits, or request your auto rental coverage letter." Say yes or press 1 for the link; say no or press 2 to go on.
- "Please say or enter your full card number." Cardholders enter the card number here. Saying "hold on" (or pressing star) makes it wait, then ask again.
- Saying you don't have the full card number sent us to "the next available representative", with a high volume message pointing to chasecardbenefits.com.
- A representative asked for a first and last name.
Things that slowed this call down
- Saying "hold on" at the card number prompt. Our caller said it, and the system waited for "I'm ready", then kept repeating the card number prompt. That cost about a minute.
- Talking to the menu. Our caller introduced itself to the automated system, which didn't respond to it.
- Saying it had no full card number is what moved the call along. If you're the cardholder, the menu clearly wants your card number, so have it ready.
Chase Sapphire Reserve travel insurance benefits claims: calling for someone else
The useful lesson for anyone checking on Chase Sapphire Reserve travel benefits for a family member or employer: this line ties the claim to the primary cardholder. An assistant with the claim number, the card's last four digits and the claim details still didn't get a status.
That points to two ways to do this:
- Have the cardholder on the call. call4me can ring the account owner to join a call: they answer, press 1 and talk for themselves. We didn't test whether the representative would then give status to the assistant.
- Use the portal. The phone system and Chase's guide both point to chasecardbenefits.com for filing, status and uploading documents.
Have your agent make this call
Connect call4me to your agent through the Claude Code guide or the Codex guide. This is a suggested brief, not the one the customer used:
Call Chase Sapphire Reserve Card Benefit Services at 1-800-350-1697 about my claim [claim number]. Say "no" to the text link. At the card number prompt, ring me so I can enter my card number and give authorization myself; don't read any card number aloud. Once a representative is on, ask whether the claim is open, approved, paid or denied, which documents are still outstanding and where to send them, and the expected decision date. Ask them to note that I followed up today. Don't agree to close, withdraw or settle the claim.
