Boss Frog's Maalaea: checking a same-day Molokini snorkel trip

Three real Saturday morning calls checked the Malolo afternoon snorkel trip, the daily snorkel report and a second Molokini operator for two adults.

Boss Frog's Maalaea Harbor store is at 300 Ma'alaea Road, Building 2, Shop 2N, Wailuku, Hawaii. Its official store page lists (808) 242-0088 for the shop and store hours of 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily. The same page gives 1-888-700-3764 for general questions and (808) 661-3333 once you are in Hawaii. The calls below dialed (808) 242-0088, the number on that page.

On Saturday, October 10, 2026, a call4me customer's assistant called Boss Frog's Maui to find out whether two adults could still snorkel Molokini that day. Staff answered right away on both Boss Frog's calls; there was no phone menu.

The short answer from the call: the Malolo afternoon snorkel trip out of Maalaea Harbor was running, with check-in at 12:30, but it was booked solid for adults. Whether it would go to Molokini or Coral Gardens was not fixed in advance: staff said it depends on the weather, and the captain decides when the boat leaves the harbor. Staff offered 10 spots the next day and room on Monday instead.

Representative: Aloha, Boss Frogs, this is [staff name muted].

AI agent: Hi, I was just wondering, is the Malolo afternoon snorkel trip running out of Maalaea Harbor today? That's Saturday, October 10th.

Representative: Let me check for you.

AI agent: Yeah, thanks so much.

[Lookup pause, about 0:15 to 0:24, retained in full.]

Representative: Yes, it is running today.

AI agent: Great, and what time is that leaving this afternoon?

Representative: It checks in at 12:30.

AI agent: Awesome, and are there still two seats left for adults? And if so, what's the total price for two?

Representative: There is no seats for adults. We're booked solid today.

AI agent: Oh, gotcha. No worries. Does that trip go to Molokini or Coral Gardens today?

Representative: It'll either do Molokini or Coral Gardens, depending on the weather. And the captain decides that when he leaves the harbor. I do have 10 spots tomorrow, or I've got room on Monday as well.

AI agent: Okay, thanks for checking that for me. Okay, I think that's all I needed. Yeah, thanks so much.

Representative: Have a great day.

AI agent: You too, bye.

The Boss Frog's snorkel report call

About an hour earlier, at 7:12 AM Hawaii time, the assistant called the same Maalaea number to ask about snorkeling conditions near Maalaea and the south shore. Staff pointed to the daily snorkel report on bossfrog.com, then read out ratings anyway: upper west a three, Honolua a two, Kaanapali a three, and south side beaches a three, with "a little south swell in the water right now." Staff added that Molokini "is always great," but you need a boat to get there.

This call ran into its two minute limit, so the recording stops mid-answer. It lasts 1 minute 56 seconds.

Representative: Aloha, Boss Frogs, this is [staff name muted].

AI agent: Hi, I was wondering what the snorkeling conditions are like today near Maalaea and the south shore.

Representative: Um, have you gone to our website?

AI agent: Not yet, no.

Representative: So if you go to bossfrog.com, there's a link to the daily snorkel report.

AI agent: Okay.

Representative: And it's updated every morning.

AI agent: Oh, that's [unclear, nice or fun].

Representative: I can check real quick. Yeah, I can check for you real quick, hold on. Where are you guys staying?

AI agent: We're just asking in general.

Representative: Okay, let me see real quick. [Pause, about 0:37 to 0:42.] So Maalaea typically not snorkeling over here.

AI agent: Oh, okay.

Representative: But let's see, upper west is a three, Honolua [unclear] is a two, Kaanapali is a three. South side beaches are at a three. One out of ten.

AI agent: Okay.

Representative: We have a little south swell in the water right now.

AI agent: Gotcha. Okay, that's good to know.

Representative: Yeah. Molokini is always great, but it's a long swim. Got to take a boat to get there.

AI agent: Right, right. Okay.

Representative: Yeah, so at a three, great boogie board and surfing. We can put you on a surf lesson.

[About 12 seconds with nobody speaking, about 1:16 to 1:28, retained in full.]

Representative: Hello?

AI agent: Hi, this is Admin Agent's assistant. Just checking, how are snorkeling conditions today around Maalaea and the south shore?

Representative: We just talked about that.

AI agent: Yes. Just since it's a three, would you actually recommend going out? And is there anywhere that's calm today?

Representative: Everywhere should be calm today. Am I talking to AI?

AI agent: Yeah, I'm an AI assistant. [Recording ends at the call's two minute limit.]

A second Molokini operator: PacWhale Eco Adventures

Right after the Boss Frog's availability call, the assistant tried PacWhale Eco Adventures at (808) 249-8811, the number on the Pacific Whale Foundation contact page, which lists calling hours of 6 AM to 6 PM Hawaii time. The menu path was press 1 (reservations, memberships or donations), then press 1 again for reservations. A person answered about 1 minute 19 seconds after the call connected.

Staff said the Molokini Turtle Arches trip had already left at 8 o'clock, and the afternoon trip had no openings. No price, check-in time or site was discussed, and this call also stopped at its two minute limit. It lasts 1 minute 56 seconds.

AI agent: Hey [staff name muted], I was just wondering if you have two spots open today for the Molokini snorkel?

Representative: Molokini, let's see.

Calling Boss Frog's about a same-day Molokini snorkel

The useful questions were short: is the trip running today, what time is check-in, are there seats for your party, and where is it going. Staff answered all of them in about a minute. A few things made the answers more useful:

Ask your assistant to check a Molokini snorkel trip

Connect call4me to your assistant through the Claude Code guide or Codex guide. The following is a suggested brief, not what the customer used.

Call Boss Frog's Maalaea Harbor store at (808) 242-0088 about the Malolo afternoon snorkel trip on [date] for [number] adults. Ask whether it is running, the check-in time, whether seats are left, the total price including taxes and fees, and whether it plans Molokini or a backup site. If it is full, ask which other days have room. Do not book or give payment details. Allow up to 5 minutes, then return the answers and anything staff did not confirm.
