An AI that calls your doctor or dentist to book an appointment
call4me is an AI that calls your doctor's or dentist's office and books the appointment for you. ask your AI assistant (ChatGPT, Claude or Codex) for a visit, it collects the patient details the office will ask for, and call4me phones the office, talks to the front desk and brings back the confirmed day and time with a transcript. calls cost $0.25/min from pickup and half that on hold, and unanswered calls are free.
How the call works
before it dials, call4me checks it has what a medical or dental call needs: the patient's full name and date of birth, a phone number, whether they are a new or existing patient, the reason for the visit, the insurance carrier and member ID (or self-pay), and the days and times that work. your assistant asks you for anything missing in one message.
the days and times you give are what the caller may accept. if the office asks something only you know, the question comes back to your assistant mid-call, and the caller relays your answer on the line. it can also reschedule or cancel a visit, or switch it to a video visit.
the caller calls for you and never claims to be you. it never reads out card numbers, bank details or passwords.
Real calls call4me made
recorded calls, each with what was asked, what happened and a transcript:
- book a new patient visit with a primary care practice (a primary care practice in Baltimore): the front desk confirmed the 8:50 am slot on tuesday, november 3 was still open and booked it with a nurse practitioner. it confirmed the callback number on file and said to arrive 15 minutes early with an insurance card, an id, and a medication list.
- reschedule a dentist appointment (a dental office): the office moved the appointment to monday at noon with the same dentist, and confirmed it on the call.
- switch a doctor's appointment to a video visit (a doctor's office): the office switched the appointment to a zoom visit at the same day and time, and said the link would be sent to the email on file before the appointment.
- book a same day eye exam, self-pay (Revolution Eyes, Katy, Texas): the office booked a routine exam for 4 pm the same day and said the out of pocket price was 99. the phone number given on the call was the wrong one, and a second call corrected it.
Medical phone lines we timed
Time is minutes:seconds from the start of the published recording to the first live person, so it includes the phone menu and the queue.
| Company | Time to a person | What got us through |
|---|---|---|
| SimonMed Imaging | 0:13 | The cardiology scheduling line; a short hold, no menu |
| Blue Shield of California (dental) | 2:49 | Saying the request, then not giving a member ID |
every company we timed, with the transcript line behind each time, is on customer service hold times by company.
The recordings behind this page
- Rescheduling a dentist appointment: a call4me user's assistant asked to move a Thursday 3:30 appointment to "Friday after three or anytime Monday" and got Monday, October 5 at noon with the same dentist, in a call under two minutes. the user wrote afterwards: "It works great! Got my first dentist appointment rescheduled :)"
- Finding a new primary care doctor: 15 recorded calls to 10 practices in and around Baltimore, each asked the same four questions, booked two new-patient visits, about 5 and 6 weeks out.
- Booking a follow-up, then switching it to telehealth: a doctor's office in Manhattan booked an in-person follow-up for Tuesday, October 6 at 2 p.m., and a second call a few minutes later turned it into a Zoom visit at the same day and time.
- Rescheduling a doctor appointment: the office's virtual assistant confirmed an earlier Thursday appointment was already canceled, and after a transfer to scheduling a representative offered Thursday at 1:30 PM or Friday at 11:30 AM.
- A same day eye exam in Williamsburg: an assistant called three eye practices at the same time for a new patient with a painful red eye, and Brooklyn Eye Center offered 10:00 or 11:30 AM the same morning.
- Araa's dental appointments: Araa used Muse and call4me for dental scheduling, and a followup call checked insurance and confirmed the initial consultation was free. Araa's reaction on X: "Just got my mind blown by the call quality"
