Zessan Otemachi: a same-day private room booked by phone in Japanese
A real call in Japanese booked a private room at Zessan's Otemachi restaurant in Tokyo for that evening at 6 PM, for three adults and an 11-month-old, with a ¥10,000 per adult minimum spend.
Zessan (舌賛 ZESSAN), a Kobe beef yakiniku and beef tongue restaurant, is on the 2nd floor of Otemachi Place West Tower, 2-3-1 Otemachi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. Its official website lists 050-5448-3378 (from outside Japan, +81 50-5448-3378), weekday hours of 11:30 to 14:00 and 17:00 to 22:30, Saturday 17:00 to 22:00, and closed Sundays and public holidays. The site says "個室のお席も多数ご用意しております" (there are many private room seats) and links an online booking page.
The number dialed on this call was different: +81 50-5596-6076. It isn't the number on the restaurant's own site, which we checked on October 16, 2026. The staff member who answered did take the private room booking, but the greeting is hard to make out in the recording, so if you call, use 050-5448-3378 from the official site.
On Thursday, October 8, 2026, at about 1:20 PM Tokyo time, a call4me customer's assistant called in Japanese to book a private room (個室) for that evening. The request was 6:00 PM for four: three adults and an 11-month-old baby. Any time from 17:30 to 19:00 was acceptable, and the brief said a minimum spend of about ¥10,000 per person was fine.
Staff said a room was available, on condition of a guaranteed food and drink spend of at least ¥10,000 for each of the three adults. The assistant agreed, gave a phone number and the booking name, and staff confirmed 18:00 that day, three adults and one child, in a private room.

What the call did not settle
- No confirmation number or staff name. Staff didn't give either, and the assistant didn't ask.
- No cancellation policy. The brief asked for it, but it never came up. With a guaranteed minimum spend, a no-show could cost money, so ask.
- No course details. Staff gave a minimum spend, not a set course or a price list.
- Nothing about the baby's needs. Nobody asked about a high chair, stroller space, or whether a child that young counts toward the room.
- The phone number wasn't read back. The assistant gave a US number without the +1 country code, and staff didn't repeat it. The name wasn't read back either.
- The dialed number differs from the official site, as described above.
- The visit itself isn't shown. The recording ends with the booking. It doesn't establish that the party arrived or what the bill was.

Booking a private room at an Otemachi restaurant on the same day
The customer didn't speak to the restaurant at all. The brief gave the assistant everything it needed before the call: the language, the date, the party with the baby's age, a time window, the booking name with its katakana reading, a contact number and the spending limit the customer would accept. When staff raised the ¥10,000 per adult condition, the assistant could agree on the spot because the brief had already said that was fine.
The brief also said a private room was required: if none was free in the window, the assistant should not book and should ask instead. That rule never came into play, because 18:00 was open.
What it left out shows in the gaps above. If the room comes with a minimum spend, ask about cancellation before you hang up. If a baby is coming, ask about a high chair. If the contact number is from another country, give it with the country code and ask staff to read it back.
For a step by step version of the same process in English, see how to book a dinner reservation by phone. For another call made in a language other than English, see the Mandarin scheduling call.
Ask your assistant to book a private room in Tokyo
Connect call4me to your assistant through the Claude Code guide or Codex guide. The brief below is a suggestion, not what the customer used.
Use call4me to call Zessan Otemachi at +81 50-5448-3378 and speak Japanese. Book a private room (個室) for today at [time] for [number] adults and [children and ages], under [name, with katakana reading]. Any start time from [earliest] to [latest] is fine; choose the one closest to [time]. A minimum spend of up to [amount] yen per adult is acceptable. If no private room is free in that window, don't book; tell me the options. Give my number as [number with country code] and ask them to read it back. Before hanging up, ask about the cancellation policy and whether they have a high chair, then tell me the confirmed time, the spending condition and anything left open, in English.
