Lai Wah Heen private dining in Toronto: a real reservation call
A real Toronto call secured a private dinner reservation for a group, but left the final menu, price and room capacity to confirm in writing.
Lai Wah Heen is at 108 Chestnut Street in Toronto. Its official private dining page lists several event spaces and gives the restaurant's contact number, (416) 260 8988. When arranging a group dinner, ask for the exact room, seated capacity, spending minimum and final total before treating a reservation as a finished event plan.
On October 9, 2026, a call4me customer's assistant called about a private dinner for 12 to 14 people on Thursday, November 19, from approximately 6:00 to 9:00 PM. The caller asked for a courtesy hold without a deposit. Staff collected the booking details and explicitly said the reservation was made, with further details to follow.
That is evidence of a reservation, not a settled C$140 per person dinner package. The final menu, wine allowance, tax treatment, cancellation terms and written proposal were not confirmed in the recording.
The room discussion and the unresolved capacity question
The employee discussed Silk Road, Lune and Sol. These are the amounts spoken on October 9, not current offers or a final bill:
| Room discussed | Amount stated on the call | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Silk Road | C$1,200 minimum plus 20% service charge | The full package and tax were not priced |
| Lune | C$1,500 minimum | The employee suggested it for roughly 12 to 13 guests; final charges were not itemized |
| Sol | C$2,500 minimum plus 20% service charge | Recommended in the conversation for 14 guests |
The caller then requested the Lune room for a group still described as 12 to 14. Staff made the reservation, but did not resolve whether 14 people would fit at one seated table. The published room descriptions, checked October 11, list Lune for 12 seated guests and Silk Road for 14. Confirm the final headcount and room in writing if the group grows beyond 12.
The employee compared the customer's proposed C$140 per person budget with the room minimum. That comparison did not establish whether tax, wine and service were included. A spending minimum and a complete event quote answer different questions. Our private dining cost guide explains what to ask about each charge.

Representative: This is [staff name muted] from Lai Wah Heen speaking. How may I help you today?
AI agent: Hey, I'm calling about a private dinner for a client, [company muted], Thursday, November 19th. Do you have a private room open that night for around twelve to fourteen?
Representative: Sorry, what time around?
AI agent: Sure thing, six to nine PM.
Representative: Yes, we have room for a private dining room.
AI agent: Oh, perfect. Which room would that be? And what would pricing look like per person, all in, for a set or family style menu with, say, a couple glasses of wine?
Representative: Okay, so we have three different private rooms. We have, um, they're actually listed on our website.
AI agent: Mm hmm.
Representative: The first one called Silk Road has a minimum charge of $1,200.
AI agent: Mm hmm.
Representative: Plus 20 percent automatic service charge. Our second room is called, um, Lune, and it's a round table with a sharing style, so you can, like, rotate the table, and that minimum charge is $1,500.
AI agent: Hmm.
Representative: It's pretty good for twelve to thirteen people, I'd say. But our biggest room that I'd recommend for fourteen people is our, um, Sol [phonetic] room, and that minimum charge is $2,500 plus a 20 percent service fee.
AI agent: Oh, gotcha. And what could you do around $140 per person, all in? That's our target.
Representative: A hundred and forty dollars per person, and, um, give me one moment. And you said there's around fourteen people coming?
AI agent: Yeah, twelve to fourteen people.
Representative: Okay, well, because, um, our second room, which I listed as Lune, that minimum charge is $1,500, I would say if you have fourteen people coming and $140 is the budget, your total would already be close to $2,000. And if you have twelve people coming and your budget is $140 per person, that still hits the target for the second room.
AI agent: Hmm, okay. And if that Lune room's available, could you put a courtesy hold on it for [customer name muted] with [company muted]? Without a deposit for now?
Representative: Yeah, give me one moment. I'm going to put this on our, um, OpenTable. And sorry again, what time would you guys be coming in around?
AI agent: Six ish.
Representative: Six ish, okay. And can I please get a full phone number?
AI agent: Sure thing. It's [phone number muted].
Representative: Okay, perfect. And can I get a first and last name for this reservation?
AI agent: Yeah, it's [customer name muted].
Representative: Sorry, how do I spell that?
AI agent: [first name spelling muted], last name [last name spelling muted].
Representative: Sorry, the last name again, if possible?
AI agent: [last name spelling and name muted].
Representative: [name readback muted]. Okay, wonderful. And you said there was a company?
AI agent: Yes, [company muted].
Representative: [company readback muted].
AI agent: [company repeated, muted].
Representative: Okay. All right, wonderful. And is there an email that I could get in case we need to confirm or contact [unclear] for details?
AI agent: Yeah, yeah, it's [email muted].
Representative: Okay, one moment. [email readback muted].
AI agent: That's it.
Representative: Okay, wonderful. And are there any dietary restrictions we should know about, or are we celebrating anything special that day?
AI agent: Hmm, let me check on that real quick. No special celebration, and dietary restrictions are still TBD. [customer name muted] can send those over later, though. [Unclear overlapping phrase about a celebration].
Representative: Okay, wonderful.
AI agent: Yeah. [brief overlap]
Representative: Okay, wonderful. It's all set for you. I made the reservation, and further details will be explained later, or contacted later.
AI agent: Perfect. And could you please send the proposal to that email and copy [email muted]?
Representative: Sorry, what was the last email?
AI agent: It's [email muted].
Representative: [partial email readback muted], sorry.
AI agent: Oh, no worries.
Representative: Um, do you mind repeating that?
AI agent: Yeah, it's [email muted].
Representative: Okay, perfect. Thank you so much. It's all set for you, and we'll be contacting you shortly at [email muted].
AI agent: Oh, that's great. Thanks so much.
Representative: Thank you.
AI agent: Bye.
Representative: All right, take care. Bye.
Representative: [Brief ending sound. Complete original timing retained.]
What was reserved, and what still needed an answer
The useful result was getting the conversation past general availability. Staff entered the customer's name, contact details, company and requested evening into the booking system and said it was set up. No card or deposit was provided during the call.
The next step was still a written proposal. That should identify the room, final seated headcount, menu, drinks, minimum spend, tax, service charge, deposit deadline and cancellation terms. The call does not establish that the proposal arrived, that no deposit would ever be due, or that the quoted budget was accepted as a total price.
Give your assistant a private dining brief
Connect call4me using the Claude Code guide or Codex guide, then use a brief like this. It is a suggested workflow; the customer's client is not identified by the recording.
Call Lai Wah Heen about a private dinner on [date] from [start] to [finish] for [final seated headcount]. Ask which room seats everyone at one table. Get a written quote covering food, drinks, minimum spend, tax and service. Our total budget is [amount and currency]. Ask for a courtesy hold and its expiration, but do not agree to a charge or minimum without my approval. Have the proposal sent to the contact details I provide privately. Distinguish the reservation from any pricing still awaiting confirmation.
