DoorDash customer service number: how to reach a live person, and how long refunds take
We called DoorDash's support line to ask about missing items and refunds. Here are the exact key presses, the words that got us transferred, what the live representative said, and the full recording.
The short answer: the DoorDash customer service number is 855-431-0459. DoorDash's customer help page lists it under "Can't find what you are looking for?": "Our chat and call support are available 24/7" and "Call Us at 855-431-0459". So the DoorDash phone number for customers is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and the representative we reached confirmed that a real person answers around the clock.
This got us to a live person in 2 minutes 8 seconds:
- At "To continue in English, press 1", press 1.
- At "If you are a customer, please press 1", press 1.
- An automated voice asks "How can I help you?" Asking for a representative doesn't skip it: it asks you to name the problem instead. Say "missing item".
- Say "yes" when it repeats the problem back to you.
- When it asks whether you want a refund, a redelivery, or the status of an existing refund, say "refund".
After a recording notice and a short hold, a DoorDash customer service representative picked up. He told us:
- You can report a missing item by phone or in the app. "You can just call the DoorDash customer service. And there's also a self-service app that you can just report it through DoorDash application."
- Refunds can come back as DoorDash credit right away. If the refund is approved, it shows up "as soon as possible" as DoorDash credit.
- Or back to your card in 3 to 10 business days. Customers can choose the original payment method instead, and that takes "three to ten business days, depends on your bank."
- Phone support with a real person is 24/7. We asked "is your phone support available 24/7 with a real person?" and he answered "That's correct."
- He'll want the phone number on the order. His first move was to offer to process the refund himself: "You just need to provide me your phone number associated to the order."
We called on Friday, October 9, 2026, at about 4:08 pm Eastern, with call4me asking the questions. This page is what we heard.
Listen to the call
The whole call, 4 minutes 29 seconds. Three short silences (under a second each) cover the representative's first name. Nothing else is muted or cut, and our caller didn't say my name or any number.
Key presses don't show up in the recording. Our caller pressed 1 after the language options and 1 after the caller-type menu (the menu moved on after each). The "Hmm" sounds at 0:24 and 0:46 are our caller.
Jump to a moment:
- 0:03 "You've reached the DoorDash's phone concierge. To continue in English, press 1"
- 0:09 Spanish (press 2) and French (press 3) options
- 0:25 The caller-type menu: customer, Dasher, restaurant, Drive merchant
- 0:51 An automated voice: "How can I help you?"
- 0:53 We ask for a representative
- 0:58 "You can say things like, Dasher never arrived, missing item, or refund"
- 1:10 We say "I have a question about a missing item"
- 1:24 "Are you looking to receive a refund, an order re-delivery, or are you asking about the status of an existing refund?"
- 1:30 We say "refund"
- 1:35 A recording notice and a survey offer, then a short hold
- 2:08 A live representative: "Thank you for calling DoorDash"
- 2:21 He offers to process a refund and asks for the phone number on the order
- 2:47 "This is a live representative"
- 3:01 How to report a missing item: call, or the app
- 3:24 Refunds as DoorDash credit, "as soon as possible"
- 3:42 To your original payment method: "three to ten business days, depends on your bank"
- 3:49 We ask if phone support is 24/7 with a real person. "That's correct"
- 4:12 An after-call survey starts, and we hang up
The DoorDash customer service phone tree, step by step
- Call 855-431-0459. "You've reached the DoorDash's phone concierge. To continue in English, press 1." Press 1. The Spanish ("oprima dos") and French ("appuyer sur trois") options play right after it.
- The caller-type menu. "Please listen carefully as our menu options may have changed. If you are a customer, please press 1. If you are a Dasher, please press 2. If you are a restaurant on our platform or are currently onboarding, please press 3. If you are a Drive merchant or are calling about our white label fulfillment service, please press 4." Press 1.
- "How can I help you?" This is an automated voice that listens for what you say. When we asked for a representative, it answered: "I understand you'd like to speak with an agent. To ensure that you get to the right person to help, you can say things like, Dasher never arrived, missing item, or refund." Name your problem in a few words.
- It confirms the problem. For a missing item: "I understand that you're looking for help with a missing or incorrect item on your order. Is that correct?" Say yes.
- It narrows it down. "Are you looking to receive a refund, an order re-delivery, or are you asking about the status of an existing refund?" We said "refund".
- A recording notice. "This session may be monitored or recorded for quality assurance and training purposes," then "Please stay on the line after your call for a brief survey about your experience."
- A short hold. About 16 seconds of sound with no speech on our call, likely hold music.
- A person answers. "Thank you for calling DoorDash. This is [name]. How can I assist?" On our call that was 2 minutes 8 seconds into the recording.
If you stay on after the representative hangs up, a two-question survey starts: "Did we resolve your issue? If yes, press 1. If no, press 2."
What to have ready
- The phone number on your DoorDash account. It was the first thing the representative asked for: "your phone number associated to the order".
- Which order and which item was missing, so you can say "missing item" at the voice prompt and explain it once a person picks up.
- Whether you want DoorDash credit or a refund to your card. Credit comes "as soon as possible". Your original payment method takes 3 to 10 business days, depending on your bank.
If you'd rather not call at all, the representative pointed to the app, and DoorDash's help page also offers "Chat with Us in the App". Looking for other DoorDash support numbers? On this line, Dashers, restaurants and Drive merchants use the same number and pick their own option at the second menu.
Things that don't work
- Asking for a representative at "How can I help you?" It didn't transfer us. It asked us to name the problem instead and offered "Dasher never arrived, missing item, or refund" as examples. Naming the problem is what got us through.
How we made this recording
call4me is a phone for your AI agent: your agent (Claude Code, Codex, ChatGPT) tells it what to get done and it makes the call. For this one, the brief was to reach a live person in DoorDash customer service and ask three questions: how to get a refund for a missing item, how long refunds take, and whether phone support is 24/7 with a real person.
This is our third attempt. An earlier call the same day failed because of our bug, not DoorDash's: our caller didn't press 1 at the language or customer prompts and kept saying "one moment, please" until it gave up after 2 minutes. For this call we spelled out both presses in the brief.
Our caller also made one small mistake on this call. After the representative had already answered and offered to help, it asked "Is there a live representative I could speak with?" He said "This is a live representative," and the call carried on. We kept the audio as it happened, apart from the muted name.
We've called plenty of other companies the same way.
Have your agent make this call
If you use call4me, paste this into your agent:
Call DoorDash customer service at 855-431-0459. Press 1 for English, then press 1 for "If you are a customer". When the automated voice asks "How can I help you?", say "missing item", confirm it, then say "refund". When a person answers, tell them my order from [restaurant, date] was missing [item], and give them the phone number on my account, [your phone number]. Ask for the refund to go to [DoorDash credit / my original payment method] and ask how long it will take. Don't agree to anything else or change my order.

The transcript follows the recording. "Caller" is the call4me agent. "DoorDash" is the automated menu and voice system. "Representative" is the live person. His first name is silenced in the audio each of the three times it's said and shown in brackets here. Key presses aren't audible, so they're noted in brackets.

2:08 Representative: Thank you for calling DoorDash. This is [name removed]. How can I assist?
2:11 Caller: Hi, [name removed]. Yeah, quick question. If an order arrives with a missing item, how does a customer request a refund or credit?
2:21 Representative: For that, I can assist you on getting a refund or credit for it if your item did not arrive. You just need to provide me your phone number associated to the order.
2:37 Caller: I don't actually have an account. I'm just calling with a general question. Is there a live representative I could speak with?
2:47 Representative: This is a live representative.
2:50 Caller: Oh, great. Thanks. So, yeah, I'm just trying to understand what the usual process is for customers if something's missing from their order.
3:01 Representative: So, the process for it is if you wanted to, you can just call the DoorDash customer service. And there's also a self-service app that you can just report it through DoorDash application.
3:18 Caller: Okay, that makes sense. Do you know how long refunds usually take to show up?
3:24 Representative: If we are able to process the refund, it will go into show as soon as possible via DoorDash credit. But the customers have also an option to process it to go back to their original payment method. And it will take three to ten business days, depends on your bank.
3:47 Caller: Okay, gotcha. That helps. And is your phone support available 24/7 with a real person?
3:54 Representative: That's correct.
3:56 Caller: Perfect. That's all I needed. Thank you so much, [name removed].
4:00 Representative: Thank you so much. Have a good day.
[A few quiet words in another language at about 4:06, not addressed to us.]
4:12 DoorDash: Welcome to your after-call survey. Thank you for taking the time to complete the following two questions. Did we resolve your issue? If yes, press 1. If no, press 2.
4:26 DoorDash: Sorry, I didn't catch that. Did we resolve your issue?
[The call ends here. Our caller hung up.]
