Vitalant phone number: how to get off the Vitalant call list

A call4me customer's assistant called Vitalant's donor line to stop blood donation recruitment calls. A person took the number off the call list and said it takes 10 to 12 days to fully clear. Here is the path, what was said, and the full 7 minute recording.

The short answer: the Vitalant phone number is 877-258-4825 (877-25-VITAL). Vitalant's contact page lists it "For Appointments", open Mon. to Fri. 7 AM to 8 PM MT and Sat. to Sun. 9 AM to 7 PM MT. The same page lists a separate Emergency Hotline, 800-821-6277, for donors who gave blood today and worry it "may not be suitable for transfusion".

How to get off the Vitalant call list: call 877-258-4825 and ask a person to remove your phone number from donor recruitment calls. Vitalant's communication preferences page offers the same thing: "You also may call our Customer Contact Center at 877-258-4825 and they will be happy to help." You can also do it yourself online: log in to your donor account, open the "PREFERENCES" tab, uncheck phone calls, and click "Submit now" for that channel. The privacy policy adds donorsupport@vitalant.org for opt-out requests.

On Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at about 3:45 pm Mountain, a call4me customer's assistant called that number for a donor who kept getting robocalls and voicemails asking him to give blood. Here is what happened:

  1. A virtual assistant answered ("I'm Val, your new virtual assistant") and its prompt cut off mid-sentence.
  2. About 5 minutes of complete silence followed. Neither side said anything.
  3. "I'm sorry I didn't catch your request. If you are still there, please press the star key."
  4. A person answered 5 minutes 31 seconds into the call. It was about 7 seconds after that prompt.

The representative asked for the phone number, had the last four digits repeated, and then said: "I just removed that number from our call list." He added that it takes "about 10 to 12 days" to fully remove it, so "a couple calls may slip through during that time."

Listen to the call

The whole call, 7 minutes 13 seconds, with its original timing. The donor's name, his phone number (read out once in full and once as the last four digits) and the representative's first name (said twice) are replaced with silence. Nothing about the donor's health or donation history came up on the call. The long silence from 0:15 to 5:15 is in the original recording and is kept, not added.

0:02 Vitalant: Thank you for calling Vitalant, where every donation saves lives. Blood, how can I help you today? This call is being recorded for quality and training purposes. I'm Val, your new virtual assistant. Let me know if you need help in [the prompt cuts off]

[0:15 to 5:15: complete silence, about 5 minutes. Neither side speaks. It is kept in the recording.]

5:15 Vitalant: I'm sorry I didn't catch your request. If you are still there, please press the star key.

5:24 Caller: Alright, I'll take it.

5:31 Representative: Thank you for calling Vitalant. My name is [name removed]. How can I help you today?

5:39 Caller: Hi [name removed]. I'm calling on behalf of [donor's name removed]. He would like his number removed from your donor recruitment call list. He keeps getting robocalls and voicemails and just doesn't want to receive those anymore. Could we take his number off all your call lists?

5:58 Representative: Okay, could I get his phone number?

6:01 Caller: Sure, it's [phone number removed].

6:13 Representative: Could I get the last four digits one more time?

6:17 Caller: Yeah, [last four digits removed].

6:22 Representative: Okay, perfect. Thank you for that.

6:33 Representative: Okay. All right. Okay, so I just removed that number from our call list. I do have to let you know, it does take our system about 10 to 12 days to go through and fully remove it from everything. So there is a chance a couple calls may slip through during that time.

[Our call log also has the caller saying "Mm-hmm" and "Gotcha" during these turns. Neither is clear on the recording.]

6:56 Caller: Okay, understood. As long as it's in the system, we're all set on our end.

7:03 Representative: All right, wonderful. Is there anything else I can do for you today?

7:08 Caller: Nope, that's it. Thanks for your help. Bye.

7:12 Representative: You're welcome.

How to stop Vitalant blood donation calls

Before you call, have the phone number that's getting the calls ready. It was the only thing the representative asked for. He didn't ask for a donor ID, a date of birth or anything about past donations.

On the call, it helps to:

If you have a donor account, the online route on Vitalant's communication preferences page (the vitalant donor login, then the "PREFERENCES" tab) lets you uncheck each channel yourself. Remember to click "Submit now" for each one.

Have your agent make this call

Connect call4me to your agent with the Claude Code guide or the Codex guide. This is a suggested brief, not the one the customer used:

Call Vitalant at 877-258-4825 (Mon. to Fri. 7 AM to 8 PM MT, Sat. to Sun. 9 AM to 7 PM MT). If a virtual assistant answers, ask for a person, and stay on the line if it goes quiet or asks you to press star. Ask them to remove [phone number] from all donor recruitment phone calls, voicemails, texts and mail. Give the phone number only. Don't schedule a donation or answer health questions. Ask how long the removal takes and whether there's a reference number, then tell me exactly what they said.

Hear this call on the examples page. For how long other companies take to put a person on the line, see how long it takes to reach a human, and for what an assistant does at menus like this one, see AI phone tree navigation.
