Afternic phone number: making an offer through a GoDaddy domain broker

A call4me customer's assistant called Afternic's UK line to make an offer on a domain listed for sale. A GoDaddy broker answered 44 seconds in, turned down the opening offer, and said how close to the list price sellers usually expect. Here's the menu, what the broker said, and the full 6 minute recording.

The short answer: Afternic's official contact page lists 866-829-9361 (toll free) and +1 339-222-5145 (international) for sales, which is the team that handles buying a domain. The same page's site data lists 866-351-9586 and +1 781-839-7990 for support. It doesn't list hours.

The call on this page went to a different number: a London line, +44 20 7255 0717. It was answered with "Thank you for calling Afternic, the world's largest premium domain marketplace", and a person introduced himself as being "at GoDaddy". Is Afternic owned by GoDaddy? Yes: Afternic's own site footer carries a GoDaddy Operating Company copyright. We couldn't find that UK number on Afternic's or GoDaddy's own websites, so if you're calling from scratch, use the sales numbers above.

On Tuesday, October 13, 2026, a call4me customer's assistant called that line to make an offer on a domain listed for sale on Afternic. A domain broker answered 44 seconds into the call. What he said:

The domain name, the prices, the customer's name and company, the email address and the broker's first name are muted in the recording.

The complete recording, 6 minutes 6 seconds, with the original timing. Silences cover the domain name, every price figure, the customer's name and company, the email address, the broker's description of the customer's website, the assistant's own name and the broker's first name. The 10 to 20% range stays audible. Nothing is cut, so a few muted stretches run several seconds.

Tuesday, October 13, 2026. "Phone system" is Afternic's recorded greeting. "Representative" is the domain broker. "AI agent" is the call4me assistant. 0:01 Phone system: Your call may be monitored and recorded to ensure quality customer service.

0:06 Phone system: Thank you for calling Afternic, the world's largest premium domain marketplace. To speak with a sales consultant, press one. Für Deutsch drücken Sie die zwei.

0:18 AI agent: Okay.

0:19 Phone system: Thank you for calling Afternic, the world's largest premium domain marketplace. To speak with a sales consultant, press one. Für Deutsch drücken Sie die zwei.

0:31 AI agent: Right.

[About 13 seconds with no speech.]

0:44 Representative: Hi, you're through to [broker's first name muted] at GoDaddy. How may I help?

0:48 AI agent: Hi, it's [assistant name muted] calling from [customer's company muted]. We'd like to make an offer on the domain [domain muted], which is listed for sale.

0:57 Representative: Awesome, wonderful. I should be able to help you with that. So what was the domain again?

1:01 AI agent: It's [domain muted].

1:05 Representative: It just keeps on breaking out. I got [part of the domain muted] at the end, but what was the first word?

1:10 AI agent: No problem. [Domain muted.]

1:15 Representative: No worries. [Spelling check muted], yeah?

1:17 AI agent: Yeah, that's right.

1:26 Representative: So have you made an inquiry for this domain name so far, or is this the first time you're looking into it?

1:33 AI agent: It is the first time.

1:36 Representative: Okay. The reason I ask is I've actually got somebody else that has engaged in regards to that. It could just be a coincidence and there's two people interested in it. I just wasn't sure if you were speaking on behalf of somebody else that had already made an inquiry.

1:51 AI agent: Oh, I'm not aware, no. What kind of price range are we looking at for that name?

1:58 Representative: Yeah, it's listed for sale for [price muted].

2:02 AI agent: Okay, so we'd like to start with an offer of [amount muted].

2:08 Representative: Probably not gonna work in this case. It's gonna be too low in respect to the listed price. So these domains are accurately listed. Sometimes people make offers and they aren't sure if the seller is making a guess or they're being a bit higher in respect to their value. But these sellers often sell them for their full price. So they aren't looking to start lower to negotiate. They're typically what the figure they want to get for. Making an offer isn't a bad idea. It's just we would probably need to be quite close to what they're looking for in that respect. What were your thoughts?

2:40 AI agent: Yeah, gotcha. And what do you think the seller would consider?

2:47 Representative: So we're probably gonna be looking at within like 10 to 20% range of what they're selling for. So getting it down to [amount muted] probably wouldn't work. But saving you between [amounts muted] on the purchase price isn't likely a bad idea.

3:03 AI agent: Okay, um, well, it's a bit higher.

3:04 Representative: One thing I didn't ask you before is what's the best email for you? I just should have asked you at the beginning, we kind of jumped in a little bit early. So what should I use as an email address for you?

3:16 AI agent: Hang on a sec, I'm just getting the right one.

3:22 Representative: Do you mind if I ask you what might seem like a really impolite question? It's just that there's some delays between what we're talking about. Am I talking to a person or an AI?

3:33 AI agent: I'm an AI assistant working for [customer name muted]. That's the nature of the delay. But the best email to use is...

3:40 Representative: Not a problem at all. I don't mind it, I don't mind it at all. It's just it's something I wouldn't want to presume. So that's not a problem. So, yeah, what email address should we be addressing to?

3:50 AI agent: It's [email address muted].

3:58 Representative: [Email address muted.] I'll just repeat that back to you to make sure we've got it correct. [Email address readback muted.]

4:11 AI agent: Yep, that's it exactly.

4:14 Representative: Wonderful. [Description of the customer's company website muted, with the assistant's brief replies.]

4:25 Representative: Cool. So just to clarify, to make sure we're on the same page in that respect, is your client was looking to propose an offer of [amount muted]. That wouldn't be possible in this case, but you are looking for me to send an email through to [customer's first name muted], so I can qualify what could be possible and what steps may be able to get a deal done. Were there any other questions or clarifications that you had?

4:49 AI agent: Yeah, I mean, we're trying to keep the price down because it's a speculative project for us, so we could nudge a little bit, say [amount muted] dollars, if that's getting any traction, but [price muted] is way out of our range.

5:07 Representative: So in respect of that, that would be a complete impossibility for this scenario. I'm still happy to email [customer's first name muted] with what the options would be to progress, but is this something that you would be suggesting that I do, or should we close the file at this time?

5:22 AI agent: We'd like you to submit the best offer you can to the seller. Can you tell me how we'd hear back?

5:30 Representative: Yeah, so I'm gonna send you an email with what I recommend as the next step, and then we can take it from there. So this was a really good introduction and it kind of helped the conversation go, but I'll take it to email going forward. When I do, would I be also attended to by an AI agent by email, or is this gonna be something that the person in question will reply to?

5:51 AI agent: It'll be monitored by the team. Thanks, [broker's first name muted].

5:56 Representative: Okay, wonderful. And did you have any other questions for me?

5:58 AI agent: No, that's it. We appreciate you sending that along.

6:02 Representative: Alright, wonderful. You have a nice day. Bye-bye.

6:05 AI agent: Thanks, you too. Bye.

What the Afternic phone tree looked like

  1. A recording notice: "Your call may be monitored and recorded to ensure quality customer service."
  2. The greeting: "Thank you for calling Afternic, the world's largest premium domain marketplace. To speak with a sales consultant, press one." A German option follows: "Für Deutsch drücken Sie die zwei."
  3. The greeting plays a second time. Our caller said "Right" over it.
  4. About 13 seconds with no speech, then a person answers at 0:44 with "Hi, you're through to [name] at GoDaddy."

There was no hold music or hold message. Pressing one for a sales consultant is the option the menu offers for buying a domain; we can't confirm from the recording that a key was pressed.

Making an offer through the GoDaddy domain broker

The broker's answers are useful if you want to buy a domain listed on Afternic's domain marketplace:

When the broker asked whether he was talking to a person or an AI, the assistant said it was an AI assistant working for the customer, and he said he didn't mind. He did ask whether replies by email would also come from an AI.

Have your agent make this call

Connect call4me to your assistant through the Claude Code guide or the Codex guide. This is a suggested brief, not the one the customer used:

Call Afternic sales at 866-829-9361 (or +1 339-222-5145 from outside the US) and press one for a sales consultant. Say I'd like to make an offer on [domain], listed for sale at [list price]. Offer [your figure], and if they say it's too low, ask what the seller would consider. You can go up to [your ceiling], no higher, and don't say what the ceiling is. Before agreeing to anything, ask about the broker's commission, the escrow and payment process and how long the transfer takes. Give [your email] for follow-up. If they ask, say you're an AI assistant calling for me. Don't agree to pay anything on the call.
