Lyft customer service number: what happens when you call
Lyft doesn't publish a general customer service number. We called the two phone numbers Lyft's own website lists, and both played the same 29 second recording sending us to the app, then hung up. Here's what it says, what Lyft's help pages say instead, and both recordings.
The short answer: Lyft doesn't have a customer service phone line you can call to reach a person. We called the two numbers Lyft's own website lists, 855-865-9553 and (707) 663-4025, and both played the same recording: "We are improving the help we offer and now provide customer support through the Help tab in your Lyft app." It then says "You can also contact us online at help.lyft.com" and hangs up, about 29 seconds in. There's no menu, no key to press and no way to get a person or ask for a callback.
To reach Lyft support, open the Lyft app and tap Help in the menu, then pick the type of support you need. That's what the recording tells you to do. The other route it gives is help.lyft.com.
We called on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at about 1:10 pm Eastern, with call4me dialing. This page is what we heard.
Where these numbers come from
Lyft's help center doesn't list a phone number for general support. Two Lyft pages on lyft.com do list numbers:
- 855-865-9553. A 2020 post on Lyft's driver blog, How the CARES Act Can Help Drivers, gives it as the phone number for "Lyft, Inc." for drivers filling in unemployment forms.
- (707) 663-4025. A 2019 post, Driver Safety Tips, calls it "our Support number" and suggests saving it so you recognize it when Lyft calls you back.
Both numbers played the same recording when we called.
Listen to the calls
The first call, to 855-865-9553: 29 seconds, the whole call. Nothing is muted or cut.
Jump to a moment:
- 0:00 "Thank you for calling Lyft"
- 0:02 "If you need immediate assistance from the police or emergency medical or fire personnel, please hang up and dial 911"
- 0:10 "We are improving the help we offer and now provide customer support through the Help tab in your Lyft app"
- 0:20 "Please tap Help in the menu of your Lyft app and select the type of support you need"
- 0:25 "You can also contact us online at help.lyft.com"
- 0:28 The line hangs up
The second call, a minute later, to (707) 663-4025: the same recording, word for word, and the same hang up.
What happens when you call, step by step
This is what played on October 22, 2026, on both numbers.
- Call 855-865-9553 or (707) 663-4025. A recording answers straight away: "Thank you for calling Lyft."
- An emergency notice. "If you need immediate assistance from the police or emergency medical or fire personnel, please hang up and dial 911."
- It points you to the app. "We are improving the help we offer and now provide customer support through the Help tab in your Lyft app. No matter what help you need, Lyft team members are here to assist you."
- "Please tap Help in the menu of your Lyft app and select the type of support you need."
- "You can also contact us online at help.lyft.com." Then the line hangs up.
No prompt ever asked us to press or say anything.
Things that don't work
On October 22, 2026:
- Calling 855-865-9553. It's the recording above, and it hangs up.
- Calling (707) 663-4025. Lyft's 2019 driver blog post calls it "our Support number", but it plays the same recording and hangs up.
- Waiting, pressing keys or asking for a person. The recording doesn't take any input. It ends the call on its own about 29 seconds in.
How to actually reach Lyft
These are the routes the recording and Lyft's own help pages give. We didn't test them on this call.
- In the Lyft app: tap Help in the menu and choose the type of support you need. This is the recording's main instruction.
- Online: go to help.lyft.com.
- Emergencies: call 911. Lyft's security page says to call the authorities first, "Then call our Critical Response Line through our call tool." It doesn't give a number for that line. Lyft's page on reporting a safety incident says "Our Safety Team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week," and links to forms for riders and drivers.
- A lost item: Lyft's lost and found page for riders says to contact your driver through the app first. You can call or message them for 24 hours after the ride, through a masked number. If that doesn't work, it has a form, and there's a $20 return fee once the driver returns the item.
How we made this recording
call4me is a phone for your AI agent: your agent (Claude Code, Codex, ChatGPT) tells it what to get done and it makes the call. For these calls, the brief was to find out what each number was for, take any menu option for general rider help, wait for a live person, and ask a few general questions for this guide. If it turned out to be a safety line, it was only to ask where riders should go instead and then end the call.
Neither call reached anyone to ask, so our caller didn't ask anything. Both calls ended when Lyft's line hung up. We kept the audio as it happened.
For more phone trees and recorded calls, see the other companies we've called.
Have your agent make this call
There's no phone call to make for Lyft support, so this is a job for the app. If you use call4me for other calls, you can paste this into your agent to check whether anything has changed:
Call Lyft at 855-865-9553. If it's the recording that says support is in the Help tab of the Lyft app, listen to the whole message and write down anything new, especially any option to reach a person or request a callback. If a person answers, ask how a rider reaches support about [your question, for example a charge on a ride on (date)]. Don't give out my card number or password.
