Airbnb customer service number: how to reach a live person
We called Airbnb's support line twice with general questions for this guide. Here are the key presses that got us to a person, what the representative said about last minute host cancellations and refunds, and the full recordings.
The short answer: the Airbnb customer service number is 1-844-234-2500. Airbnb's help center says "You can always call us directly at 1-844-234-2500" (source). An automated voice answers first. To reach a person: press 2 if your phone number isn't on an Airbnb account (press 1 if it's on one under another number), say "agent" when it asks why you're calling, then press 0 after it reads you a help message. A live support specialist picked up 1 minute 56 seconds after we dialed.
Airbnb's contact article lists a second number: "You can also call us at +1-415-800-5959." It says to contact Airbnb "by messaging or chat" first. We called the 844 number.
The representative told us:
- If a host cancels at the last minute, Airbnb helps you find another listing and processes a full refund. "We can help provide him another listing to find another listing, and we will process a full refund." He added that the host "will have consequences."
- It depends on who cancels. His first answer was "it depends on the cancellation of the host or the guest."
- Refunds to a Visa or Mastercard take 3 to 5 business days. "It depends on your mode of payment."
- Have your first and last name and your reservation code ready. The name is "for verification purposes." His first words to us were a request for the email address on the account.
- Phone support is open 24/7. "Yeah, we are open 24-7."
- On callbacks, his answer was about messages, not phone holds. "If they put it in the note that they need a callback, definitely specialists will call back."
On an earlier call the same afternoon, a different representative said 1-844-234-2500 is "the only phone number that we have" if you're calling from the US, that English support is 24/7, and that other languages "may vary from country to country." He listed Spanish, Chinese, Italian and German.
We called on Friday, October 16, 2026, at about 3:39 pm Eastern (the earlier call was at about 3:33 pm), with call4me asking the questions. This page is what we heard.
Listen to the call
The whole second call, 5 minutes 10 seconds. One short silence (under a second) covers the representative's first name. Nothing else is muted or cut, and our caller didn't say my name or any number.
Key presses don't show up in the recording. Our caller said "Pressing 2" and "Pressing 0" out loud as it pressed them, so you can hear where each one happens.
Jump to a moment:
- 0:03 "Thanks for calling Airbnb. We weren't able to find an Airbnb account associated with the number you're calling from"
- 0:12 Press 1 if your account is under another phone number, press 2 if not
- 0:25 "In a few sentences, please let us know why you're calling today"
- 0:38 We say "Agent"
- 0:47 "Got it. I'll explain that and send you a message with more details," then tips for logging in
- 1:17 "Just return to the call and press 0 to be transferred to a specialist"
- 1:31 We press 0
- 1:35 A recording notice
- 1:45 "Please wait while I transfer your call to a representative"
- 1:56 A support specialist answers and asks for an email address
- 2:03 We ask what happens when a host cancels at the last minute
- 2:40 "It depends on the cancellation of the host or the guest"
- 2:56 Host cancels: another listing and "a full refund"
- 3:28 Refund timing: Visa or Mastercard, "three to five business days"
- 3:41 We ask about callbacks
- 4:23 What to have ready: your name and reservation code
- 4:55 "We are open 24-7"
The Airbnb customer service phone tree, step by step
- Call 1-844-234-2500. "Hi, thanks for calling Airbnb." It looks up the number you're calling from. Ours wasn't on an account, so it said: "We weren't able to find an Airbnb account associated with the number you're calling from."
- "If you have an Airbnb account associated with another phone number, please press 1. If not, please press 2." We pressed 2. If you call from the phone number on your account, you may skip this step. We didn't test that.
- "In a few sentences, please let us know why you're calling today." It gives examples: "cancel a reservation or refund" or "check my reservation status." We said "Agent."
- It guesses a topic and reads a help message. It said "Got it. I'll explain that and send you a message with more details," then read tips for logging in. On our earlier call, the same word (per our call log) got a message about declined reservation requests and Instant Book instead.
- "If you still need help, don't worry. Just return to the call and press 0 to be transferred to a specialist." Press 0. It says it waits two minutes before disconnecting.
- A recording notice. "We're going to record this call to help us with training and quality."
- The transfer. "Please wait while I transfer your call to a representative." About 10 seconds later, a support specialist answered.
What to have ready
- The email address on your Airbnb account. It was the representative's first question.
- Your first and last name, "for verification purposes."
- Your reservation code, "so that the agent or the specialist will know what's going on on that reservation."
- How you paid, if you're asking about a refund. The timing he gave, 3 to 5 business days, was for Visa or Mastercard.
- The phone number on your account. If you call from it, the system may find your account. If not, you'll need to press 1 or 2 first.
Things that don't work
On October 16, 2026, at the "why you're calling today" prompt:
- Saying "representative". On our first call it answered "We didn't quite get that. Please try again."
- Expecting "agent" to transfer you right away. It didn't. Both times, the system picked a topic we hadn't asked about and read a help message first. The transfer came after the "press 0" offer at the end of that message.
How we made this recording
call4me is a phone for your AI agent: your agent (Claude Code, Codex, ChatGPT) tells it what to get done and it makes the call. For this one, the brief was to reach a live person at Airbnb as a general inquiry for this guide, with no account or reservation, and ask about host cancellations, refunds, callbacks, what to have ready and hours.
We made two calls. On the first, our caller asked three questions in one breath ("the fastest way to get a live agent," whether support is 24/7, and which languages). The representative first pointed us to the help center, then answered once our caller explained it had no account. When our caller asked about callbacks, he said "Mm-hmm" and the call ended. We don't know why. We kept that recording too (below), since it's where the "only phone number" and language answers come from.
For the second call we told our caller to ask one question at a time and to press 0 when offered. That's the call at the top of this page. The representative asked us to repeat the first question, and asked "what do you mean?" about callbacks, so a couple of answers took two tries.
The first call
4 minutes 9 seconds, the whole call. Two short silences cover the representative's first name.
- 0:41 We say "Representative." "We didn't quite get that"
- 1:08 "Got it," then a message about declined reservation requests and Instant Book
- 1:50 "Press 0 to be transferred to a specialist"
- 2:27 A representative answers
- 3:12 "That's the only phone number that we have. If you're calling from the US"
- 3:21 "The English will be 24-7"
- 3:44 "We have Spanish, Chinese, and Italian, German"
- 3:59 We ask about callbacks, and the call ends a few seconds later
We can't tell from this recording whether our caller pressed 2 or 0 on this call, since key presses are silent and it didn't say so out loud.
Have your agent make this call
If you use call4me, paste this into your agent:
Call Airbnb customer service at 1-844-234-2500. If it can't find my account from the number you're calling from, press 1 and give [the phone number on my Airbnb account]. When it asks why I'm calling, say "agent". If it reads a help message and offers "press 0 to be transferred to a specialist", press 0. Tell the representative my reservation [reservation code] for [listing, dates] was [your problem], and give them my name, [first and last name], and email, [email on the account]. Ask what Airbnb will do and how long any refund will take. Don't cancel or change the reservation.

The transcript follows the recording at the top of the page. "Caller" is the call4me agent. "Airbnb" is the automated system. "Representative" is the support specialist. His first name is silenced in the audio and shown in brackets here. Key presses aren't audible, so they're noted in brackets.
0:03 Airbnb: Hi, thanks for calling Airbnb. We weren't able to find an Airbnb account associated with the number you're calling from. If you have an Airbnb account associated with another phone number, please press 1. If not, please press 2.
0:21 Caller: Pressing 2.
[Caller presses 2.]
0:25 Airbnb: In a few sentences, please let us know why you're calling today. For example, you can say, cancel a reservation or refund. Or check my reservation status.
0:38 Caller: Agent.
0:47 Airbnb: Got it. I'll explain that and send you a message with more details. If you're experiencing difficulty logging in, try these options. First, make sure you're connected to a stable internet connection. Try logging in with either the phone number of email associated with your Airbnb account. If you forgot your password, you can reset your password.
1:17 Airbnb: If you still need help, don't worry. Just return to the call and press 0 to be transferred to a specialist. We'll wait here for two minutes to make sure you're doing all right, then we'll disconnect the call.
1:31 Caller: Pressing 0.
[Caller presses 0.]
1:35 Airbnb: Just a heads up. We're going to record this call to help us with training and quality.
1:40 Caller: Okay.
1:45 Airbnb: Please wait while I transfer your call to a representative.
1:56 Representative: Hi, this is [name removed], a support specialist here in Airbnb. Can you provide me your email address, please?
2:03 Caller: Hi, I have a quick general question for a consumer guide. I don't have an account or a reservation. If a host cancels a guest reservation at the last minute, what does Airbnb do for the guest? Is there a refund and does Airbnb help find another place to stay?
2:21 Representative: Oh, I'm so sorry. I didn't get it clearly. Can you repeat your question?
2:30 Caller: If a host cancels a guest's reservation at the last minute, what does Airbnb do for the guest? Is there a refund and does Airbnb help find another place to stay?
2:40 Representative: Yeah, actually, it depends on the cancellation of the host or the guest.
2:47 Caller: Okay. So, if it's the host canceling at the last minute, what would the guest get in that case?
2:56 Representative: Oh, if the host canceled it in the last minute, we can help provide him another listing to find another listing, and we will process a full refund. And your host will have consequences with regards to the canceling of your reservation.
3:22 Caller: Okay, great. And how long does a refund usually take to show up?
3:28 Representative: Oh, it depends on your mode of payment. If your mode of payment is Visa or MasterCard, it's three to five business days.
3:39 Caller: Three to five, got it. Can a guest request a callback instead of waiting on hold?
3:47 Representative: I'm sorry, what did you say?
3:50 Caller: Can a guest request a callback instead of waiting on hold?
3:55 Representative: A guest requests a callback? What do you mean?
4:01 Caller: Like, instead of waiting on the line, could they have Airbnb call them back?
4:08 Representative: Yeah, if they put it in the note that they need a callback, definitely specialists will call back them as soon as they read your message.
4:21 Caller: Okay, thanks. And what should a guest have ready when calling? Like a reservation code or the phone number on the account?
4:29 Representative: Yeah, actually, they need to provide the first and last name for verification purposes. And also, they are taking the reservation code or the reservation number so that the agent or the specialist will know what's going on on that reservation or what is the concern of the guest or the host.
4:55 Caller: Perfect. And is phone support open 24-7?
5:00 Representative: Yeah, we are open 24-7.
5:04 Caller: Great, that's all I needed. Thank you so much. Bye.

2:53 Representative: Okay, just bear with me a moment. Can we provide you with... if you could just open the help center on Airbnb.
3:03 Caller: Oh, the thing is, I don't actually have an Airbnb account. I'm just gathering general info on how people reach Airbnb by phone.
3:12 Representative: That's exactly the same phone number you're reaching us. That's the only phone number that we have. If you're calling from the US. Also, if you're looking to reach like other languages, the English will be 24-7. For the other languages, it may vary from country to country, but it's not seamlessly working. Same hours, like 24-hour, seven days. We have Spanish, Chinese, and Italian, German. That's the languages that we have.
3:58 Caller: Okay, great. And could a guest request a callback instead of waiting on hold?
4:07 Representative: Mm-hmm.
[The call ends here.]
