Expedia customer service number: how to reach a live agent
We called Expedia's support line with general questions for this guide. It asks for an itinerary number and hangs up if you don't have one, unless you press 0. Here are the key presses that got us to an agent, what she said, and the full recording.
The short answer: we reached Expedia customer service at 1-866-310-5768. Expedia's own name correction page gives that number: "If you are due to check-in or depart in the next 72 hours, please contact us by phone on 1-866-310-5768." An automated menu answers. It asks for your itinerary number, and if you don't enter one it hangs up. Pressing 0 at that prompt got us past it. The full path: press 1 (English), press 6 (billing or something else), press 2 (you don't know the phone number on the booking), then press 0 at the itinerary prompt. A live agent answered 3 minutes 24 seconds after we dialed.
Expedia's contact page doesn't print a general phone number. It says agents "are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year," and that "To get you to the right agent and phone number, we'll need to ask a few questions first." It also warns: "Fake Expedia phone numbers are circulating online, often through misleading search engine ads and even whole pages." Get the number from expedia.com or the app, not a search ad.
The agent told us:
- There are no callbacks. "No, we don't have any option to call back the traveler or customer."
- Have four things ready: "Itinerary number, phone number, last four of the card number that was used," and your email address.
- If an airline cancels a flight you booked through Expedia, call Expedia first. "First, you needed to call the agency where you booked the reservation."
- Phone support is 24/7. "Expedia, yes. 24-7."
- The fastest way to a person? "You just have to dial our number."
We called on Friday, October 16, 2026, at about 3:49 pm Eastern, with call4me asking the questions. This page is what we heard.
Listen to the call
The whole call, 4 minutes 42 seconds. One short silence (under a second) covers the agent's first name. Nothing else is muted or cut, and our caller didn't say my name or any number.
Key presses don't show up in the recording. Our call logs show our caller pressed 1 at about 0:12, 6 at about 1:02, 2 at about 1:22, and 0 at about 1:38. It didn't press anything at the booking type menu. The quiet stretch from about 2:13 to 3:24 is the hold.
Jump to a moment:
- 0:03 "Thanks for calling Expedia. We're here to help. Press 1 for English"
- 0:16 A recording notice
- 0:35 The main menu: cancel, airline changed your booking, change, flight credit, booking details, billing or something else
- 1:03 "Got it, billing or something else"
- 1:13 "If you know the phone number associated with your booking, please press 1. Otherwise, press 2"
- 1:30 "Please enter your itinerary number, followed by the pound key"
- 1:38 We press 0, and it cuts off mid-sentence
- 1:40 "Which of the following types of bookings do you need help with?"
- 2:07 "An agent is expected to join the call in up to 2 minutes"
- 3:24 A live agent answers
- 3:39 Fastest way to a person: "You just have to dial our number"
- 3:50 Callbacks: "we don't have any option"
- 4:03 What to have ready
- 4:20 Airline cancellations: call "the agency where you booked"
- 4:33 "Expedia, yes. 24-7"
The Expedia customer service phone tree, step by step
- Call 1-866-310-5768. "Thanks for calling Expedia. We're here to help. Press 1 for English. Para servicio en español..." Press 1.
- A recording notice. "Your call may be recorded or monitored to train agents, ensure a quality experience, and help resolve any questions you may have."
- The main menu. "To cancel a booking, press 1. If the airline has changed your booking, press 2. To change a booking, press 3. For help with flight credit, press 4. To find details about a booking, press 5. For questions about billing or something else, press 6. Or, to repeat these options, press 7." We pressed 6.
- "To better help you, we need to know what type of booking you have. If you know the phone number associated with your booking, please press 1. Otherwise, press 2." We pressed 2. We didn't test pressing 1.
- "Okay, let's try something else. To get you to the right place, please enter your itinerary number, followed by the pound key." It explains the number is "10 to 15" digits and is in your confirmation email's subject line, the app, or the website. If you have it, enter it. If you don't, press 0.
- "Which of the following types of bookings do you need help with? For a hotel booking, press 1. For a flight booking, press 2. For other types of bookings, press 3." We didn't press anything. Our caller said "Okay," and after a few seconds the menu said "Thanks."
- "An agent is expected to join the call in up to 2 minutes." An agent answered about 75 seconds later.
What to have ready
- Your itinerary number. It's the menu's main question, and the agent listed it first. It's 10 to 15 digits, in the subject line of your confirmation email.
- The phone number on your booking. The menu asks whether you know it, and the agent listed it.
- The last four digits of the card you paid with.
- Your email address.
Things that don't work
On October 16, 2026:
- Saying you don't have an itinerary number. On our first call, our caller said "I don't have an itinerary number. This is a general question" at the itinerary prompt. The menu kept asking, said "I don't recognize that as a valid itinerary number" three times, then "Sorry, I still didn't get that. Give us a call back, and we'll be happy to help," and hung up. That call never reached a person. (We have its call log, but not a published recording.)
- Asking for a callback. The agent said there isn't one.
How we made this recording
call4me is a phone for your AI agent: your agent (Claude Code, Codex, ChatGPT) tells it what to get done and it makes the call. For this one, the brief was to reach a live agent at Expedia as a general inquiry for this guide, with no booking, and ask how to reach a person, whether callbacks exist, what to have ready, who to call when an airline cancels, and the hours.
This was our second call. The first got stuck at the itinerary prompt, as described above. Our caller also introduced itself to the automated menu on that call, which did nothing. For the second call we told it the menu's options in advance and gave it keys to try at the itinerary prompt, one at a time. The first one, 0, worked.
Our caller made one small slip on this call. When the agent said "You just have to dial our number," it said "Sure. Okay" and moved on instead of asking which number she meant. We kept the audio as it happened, apart from the muted name.
We've called plenty of other companies the same way.
Have your agent make this call
If you use call4me, paste this into your agent:
Call Expedia customer service at 1-866-310-5768. Press 1 for English, then pick the option that fits my problem from the main menu (6 is "billing or something else"). When it asks for my itinerary number, enter [your itinerary number] followed by pound. If I don't have it, press 0 at that prompt. Tell the agent my booking for [hotel or flight, dates] has [your problem]. If asked, give them my email, [email on the booking], and the last four digits of the card I paid with, [last four]. Ask what Expedia can do and how long it will take. Don't cancel or change anything without asking me.
