CO2 tank exchange in San Juan: Hydro Warehouse PR swaps a 20 lb tank for $50.18

A call4me customer's assistant called Hydro Warehouse PR in Spanish about a 20 lb CO2 tank, then called two local drivers to run the swap. Here is what staff said, what the drivers quoted, and all five recordings.

The short answer: Hydro Warehouse PR does a 20 lb CO2 tank exchange at 44-46 Calle Progreso, inside Corona Comercial Park in Santurce, San Juan, PR 00907. Its official website lists (787) 506-8385 and (787) 688-8384, and hours of Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, closed Saturday and Sunday. The assistant dialed (787) 506-8385, the first number on that site, and a person answered with the store's name in the first second. There is no phone menu.

What staff told a call4me customer's assistant on Friday, October 16, 2026:

Staff also said they speak English, so you don't have to call in Spanish.

The assistant then called two local delivery services to take the tank across town. One quoted $120 and was booked for a pickup about an hour later. The other quoted $200 by PayPal and was not booked. The rest of this page has the details and all five recordings.

Hydro Warehouse PR in San Juan, a 20 lb CO2 tank exchange for $50.18 while you wait

What the calls established

All five calls were placed on October 16, 2026, between about 9:04 and 10:00 AM Puerto Rico time. They are in Spanish. Each recording below has the original Spanish transcript and a labeled English translation.

Question Answer on the call
Refill or exchange? Exchange only. You bring the empty and take a full tank
Wait time Immediate, while you wait; staff keeps full tanks in the store
Price $50.18 total ($45 plus tax); staff said "correcto" to no deposit or extra charges
Tank sizes 20 lb only
Buying a full tank $350 plus tax
Requirement for your empty Hydrostatic test date within 3 years
Gas grade and valve Food grade CO2, CGA 320 valve ("sí" to both)
Full tank seal A plastic seal from the gas company, not a cap
Who can bring the tank A driver can come instead, paying in person with ID
Payment In person preferred; no phone payment arranged
Delivery Not offered; no courier recommended
Hours on the call 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, "preferiblemente antes de las cinco" (preferably before five)
Gross weight of a full 20 lb tank Unknown. "No sé, porque no lo he pesado" (I don't know, I haven't weighed it)
Language Staff said they also speak English

And the two drivers called for the same errand, picking up the empty in Old San Juan, swapping it at Hydro Warehouse PR and bringing back the full tank:

Local delivery service Car and concierge service
Quote $120, plus the $50.18 exchange paid at the store $200
Earliest pickup About one hour About one hour
Payment Cash or a mobile payment (it sounded like ATH Móvil); a follow-up call settled on cash on return PayPal
Tank handling Accepted upright and secured in the cargo area Not discussed before the recording ends
Result Booked; a second call confirmed about 11:00 AM and $170.18 total Not booked; the recording ends on an unanswered question

We don't name either driver service. We couldn't find an official website for either one to check the number against, and the delivery service's number is the driver's own direct line.

How the exchange works

Ask about a co2 tank exchange rather than a refill. When the assistant asked whether they could refill the customer's own tank, staff corrected it: "No es un relleno, es un intercambio." (It's not a refill, it's an exchange.) If you need your own cylinder filled and returned, this store is the wrong stop. If you just need a full 20 lb tank, it's quick.

Check the hydro test stamp before you go. Staff's first condition, repeated in both calls, was that the tank be "certificado, al día", and the follow-up call pinned that down to a test date within three years. The calls didn't cover what happens to a tank that fails, beyond the assistant's own plan to bring it back unpaid.

Bring cash or a card and an ID if you're sending someone. Payment is in person, and staff said a driver can do the swap as long as they pay there and show identification. Staff didn't ask for a reference name in the answer, though at the end of the second call they asked for the customer's name and the assistant gave it.

Where to exchange a CO2 tank if you can't drive it there

Staff said Hydro Warehouse PR doesn't deliver and doesn't recommend a courier, so the assistant found drivers itself.

The local delivery service said yes right away, quoted $120 for the errand, and said a driver could pick up in about an hour. The assistant described the cylinder as compressed, non-flammable, and needing to ride upright and secured in the trunk or cargo area, not a closed passenger cabin, and the driver accepted. A second call six minutes later confirmed a pickup around 11:00 AM Puerto Rico time and $170.18 total ($120 for the run plus $50.18 for the exchange), paid in cash when the driver returns with the full tank.

The car and concierge service quoted $200, payment by PayPal, earliest pickup in an hour. The recording ends while the assistant is asking for the driver's name and phone and the cancellation policy, so nothing was booked.

What the calls did not confirm

A few things our side got wrong

The calls show the assistant making some mistakes, and we left them in:

Listen to the calls

Every recording keeps its original voices and full timing. The customer's name, the assistant's name, the store employee's first name, the driver's name and direct number, the customer's phone number and the pickup address are muted. Hydro Warehouse PR's name and address stay audible. No dead air was shortened. The transcripts were checked against the saved call text and two independent automatic transcriptions of each source and each export; no human listening verification is claimed.

Representative: Hydro Warehouse, buenos días.

AI agent: ¡Buenos días! Esta llamada puede ser grabada. Soy [assistant name muted], asistente de [customer name muted]. Llamo por una recarga de CO2. ¿Con quién hablo?

Representative: Con [staff name muted].

AI agent: Hola, [staff name muted], ¡mucho gusto!

Representative: Hydro Warehouse, good morning.

AI agent: Good morning! This call may be recorded. I'm [assistant name muted], [customer name muted]'s assistant. I'm calling about a CO2 refill. Who am I speaking with?

Representative: With [staff name muted].

AI agent: Hi, [staff name muted], nice to meet you! Can you confirm this is Hydro Warehouse PR?

Representative: Yes.

AI agent: Great. So, [customer first name muted] has a 20 lb tank of food grade CO2 with a CGA 320 valve. Can you refill it?

Representative: Is this a computer talking to me, or is this a person?

AI agent: I'm [customer name muted]'s digital assistant, working directly for him. I'm just coordinating the refill. Could you tell me whether you can refill his own tank?

Representative: A 20 lb one, yes. But it's not a refill, it's an exchange. He brings me the tank, with its certification up to date, and [unclear] then I hand over a full tank.

AI agent: Great, I understand. So it's an exchange, not a refill on site. What's the total today, with tax, for exchanging a 20 lb tank?

Representative: I'll let you know shortly. [Unclear, possibly "Don't hang up."]

AI agent: Sure, thanks. I'll wait.

Representative: 50.18.

AI agent: Great, thanks. 50.18, so 50 dollars and 18 cents. Thanks. Can it be paid remotely?

Representative: Yes, 50... [overlapping]

AI agent: Yes, 50.18.

Representative: Remotely, you mean by phone. In this case, I'd prefer it be in person.

AI agent: I understand. In that case, is there a messenger or transport service you'd recommend that does carry CO2 tanks?

Representative: No, no, we don't offer that service.

AI agent: That's fine. To pick up the full tank, what's your exact address, please? Is it 44 Calle Progreso, in Corona?

Representative: Yes, it's inside the Corona industrial complex. Inside the complex, the outside says Cervecería Corona. It has access control, it has a mechanical gate. But if you come up and they ask you, they let you through.

AI agent: Great, thanks. So inside the Corona industrial complex, where the outside says Cervecería Corona. And until what time are you open today?

Representative: Until 5 in the afternoon.

AI agent: Got it, thanks. And so [customer first name muted] doesn't have any trouble, does his empty tank need a cap or anything special?

Representative: No, no, no, no. People normally just bring me the tank empty, and that's it. Yes. We hand it over full and sealed. But the seal isn't a cap, it's a plastic one the company puts on.

AI agent: Great, understood. So [customer first name muted] brings it empty and you hand over a full, sealed one. That's all I need, [staff name muted]. Thank you so much. Have a good day!

Representative: Okay, good day.

Call 2: Hydro Warehouse PR follow-up, timing, test date and who can bring the tank

3 minutes 10 seconds. The assistant called back four minutes later.

Representative: [Unclear greeting; the saved call text has "Hidrohouse, buen día"]

Listo, [customer first name and overlapping words muted]

¡Gracias, chao!

Representative: Gracias. Bye-bye.

Representative: [Unclear greeting; the saved call text has "Hidrohouse, good day"]

AI agent: Good morning, [staff name and assistant name muted], [customer name muted]'s assistant, the one who called a few minutes ago about the CO2 exchange. This call may be recorded. I have two quick questions. First, is the exchange immediate, today, while you wait, or do you have to leave the empty tank and pick up the full one another day?

Representative: No, it's immediate. I have the full tanks. I always make sure to keep full CO2 tanks in the store for exactly that. As long as the tank is certified, up to date, no problem. You hand it to me and I give you the other one. 45 dollars plus tax, 50.18. But I only work with the 20 lb size.

AI agent: Oh, great.

Representative: I only work with the 20 lb size, and if you wanted to buy an extra tank, I sell full tanks too. That costs 350 dollars plus tax.

AI agent: Uh huh, understood. So the exchange is on the spot and it's 50.18 total, right?

Representative: Yes.

AI agent: Great, thanks. And when you say "certified, up to date", do you mean the hydrostatic test date has to be within a certain number of years? How many?

Representative: Yes, three years.

AI agent: Great, thanks. One more thing, the full cylinders you hand over are food grade CO2 with a CGA 320 valve, right?

Representative: Yes.

AI agent: And how much does a full 20 lb cylinder weigh in total? The gross weight, I mean.

Representative: Oh, I don't know, because I haven't weighed it.

AI agent: No problem. Another question: if [customer first name muted] doesn't go in person, can a driver drop off the empty and pick up the full one? Do you need a reference name or any details?

Representative: No, as long as they pay me in person, with ID.

AI agent: Great. So, to confirm, it's 50.18 total, no deposit or extra charges, and the exchange is immediate, correct?

Representative: Correct.

AI agent: Great. And last, until what time today do you take exchanges?

Representative: From 9 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon.

AI agent: Great, thank you so much!

Representative: Preferably before 5.

AI agent: Great, understood. So, exchange on the spot for 50.18, 20 lb tank, certified within three years, only that size, and better to go before 5. Okay, [customer first name and overlapping words muted]

Representative: [Overlapping words muted] can you repeat the customer's name for me, please?

AI agent: Of course. [Customer name muted].

Representative: Okay. You can tell [customer first name muted] that if anything comes up, we also speak English here, no problem at all.

AI agent: Oh, thank you so much. That's all for now. Thanks, bye!

Representative: Thanks. Bye-bye.

Representative: Hello.

Representative: [Driver name muted], y vas a volver a llamar [phone number muted].

AI agent: Gracias, [driver first name and phone number muted].

Representative: Efectivo y [unclear, likely "ATH Móvil"].

Representative: [Phone number muted].

Muchas gracias, [driver first name muted].

Representative: [Brief unclear reply]

AI agent: Good morning, this call may be recorded. I'm [assistant name muted], [customer name muted]'s assistant, and I need a driver today for an errand: take an empty 20 lb CO2 cylinder from Old San Juan to Hydro Warehouse in Corona, swap it for a full one and bring it back. Can you do it?

Representative: Yes.

AI agent: Great. Before we go on, who's on the phone? Just to confirm: it's a compressed CO2 cylinder, non-flammable, it weighs about 50 to 55 pounds full, and it has to ride upright and secured in the trunk or cargo area, not in a closed passenger cabin. Is that okay?

Representative: Yes.

AI agent: Great. And what would the total price be for the errand?

Representative: [Phone number muted].

AI agent: Thanks, [phone number muted]. Great, and the pickup is in Old San Juan. The destination is Hydro Warehouse PR in the Corona Industrial Complex, and they do the swap on the spot, it costs 50.18, paid there in person, reimbursed separately. If the tank doesn't pass the date test, just bring it back and don't pay anything there. All good with that?

Representative: Yes, all good.

AI agent: Great, then we're set for today. Thank you so much, [driver first name muted].

Representative: Where in San Juan do I need to go? Exactly.

Representative: And it's called Hydro what?

AI agent: Hydro Warehouse PR.

Representative: Okay, perfect.

AI agent: Great. So we're set to pick up today at that address and do the swap. Thank you so much, really.

AI agent: Great, so around... eleven, Puerto Rico time. Great.

Representative: Yes.

Representative: Correct.

AI agent: Excellent. Can [customer names muted] pay in cash when you come back with the full tank?

Representative: Yes.

AI agent: Great. And one more thing, did you get the text message with the full instructions at this number?

Representative: Yes, I got it.

AI agent: Great. And to confirm, for the exchange, do you have your own ID to show at Hydro? And... are you planning to carry the tank upright in the trunk or in the cargo area?

Representative: Yes, in the cargo area.

AI agent: Thanks. And just to be clear, your name is [driver name muted] and this number, [phone number muted], reaches you directly?

Representative: Yes.

AI agent: Great. So we're set: arrival at eleven, 170.18 total, and cash payment on return. Super, thank you so much. See you.

Representative: Perfect.

How to exchange a CO2 tank by phone first

If you're looking up co2 tank exchange near me in San Juan, a two minute call saves a wasted trip. These are the questions that settled it here:

  1. Refill or exchange? Some shops fill your own cylinder; this one only swaps.
  2. Which sizes? Hydro Warehouse PR said 20 lb only.
  3. What's the test date rule? Here, a hydrostatic test within three years.
  4. Total with tax, and any deposit? $50.18, and staff said "correcto" to no deposit or extra charges.
  5. On the spot, or drop off and come back? Here, on the spot.
  6. Can someone else bring it? Here, yes, paying in person with ID.
  7. Until what time? Here, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, ideally before 5.

If you need the tank moved, ask the driver to confirm upright transport in the cargo area, the total including the exchange, and how payment works, and keep your own phone number out of it unless you want them calling you.

Ask your assistant to make the call

Connect call4me to your assistant with the Claude Code guide or the Codex guide. This is a suggested brief, not what the customer used:

Call Hydro Warehouse PR in San Juan at (787) 506-8385. You can speak Spanish or English. Ask whether they can exchange my empty 20 lb CO2 tank today while I wait, the total with tax, whether there's a deposit, and what the hydro test date has to be. My tank's test date is [month and year]. Ask whether [driver or friend] can bring it instead of me and what they need to show. Don't book, pay or give my phone number. Tell me exactly what they said, and separate what staff said from anything you assumed.

Hear the first Hydro Warehouse PR call on the examples page. For another call that checks a store before you make the trip, see checking store availability with your AI assistant. For another call in a language other than English, see checking a meeting in Mandarin.
