M Hansik Durham private dining: the room, the $350 fee and the $1,000 deposit
Three recorded calls for a Durham company dinner of 12 to 14: M Hansik's enclosed private room and how to book it, plus Vin Rouge's covered, heated garden. What each restaurant said, and what still has to come in writing.
M Hansik is at 501 Washington Street, Suite C, Durham, North Carolina. Its official locations page lists (919) 813-2338, the number our calls dialed, and dinner hours of 5:00 to 9:30 pm Wednesday and Thursday, 5:00 to 10:00 pm Friday and Saturday, and 4:00 to 9:00 pm Sunday. It is closed Monday and Tuesday. The site's private parties page is an inquiry form; it does not publish a room fee or deposit.
The phone line opens with a menu. Press 3 to speak to a team member. On our call, a person answered about 43 seconds after the call connected.
On Thursday, October 1, 2026, at about 9:43 pm Eastern, a call4me customer's assistant called M Hansik to move a company dinner forward: a private room for 12, possibly 14, on Thursday, November 5, 2026 at 6 pm. The person who answered said:
- The private room is enclosed and "we can accommodate up to 35."
- A $350 room fee and about $65 per person for a set menu are correct. The assistant read both numbers back and he said "That's correct."
- The deposit is "just a $1,000 deposit at the time of booking."
- The room is booked by email, not over the phone. He gave the events team's address as mhansikdurham@gmail.com, spelled it out, and confirmed the assistant's read back. "Once we get that email, we'll get the contract and everything together for the party."
He did not agree to pencil in or hold the room on the call. Nothing was paid and no card was given.
What the M Hansik call established
| Detail | What the October 1 conversation established |
|---|---|
| Restaurant | M Hansik, 501 Washington Street, Suite C, Durham |
| Number dialed | (919) 813-2338, matching the official locations page |
| Phone path | Menu, then press 3 for a team member |
| Requested event | Company dinner, Thursday, November 5, 2026 at 6 pm, 12 people, possibly 14 |
| Privacy | Enclosed room |
| Capacity | "We can accommodate up to 35" |
| Room fee | $350, confirmed when read back |
| Food | About $65 per person, set menu, confirmed when read back |
| Deposit | "Just a $1,000 deposit at the time of booking" |
| How to book | Email the events team at mhansikdurham@gmail.com; they then prepare a contract |
| Hold | Not agreed on the call |
The arithmetic from those quotes, before drinks, tax, gratuity and any service charge: 12 guests is $350 + 12 × $65 = $1,130. 14 guests is $350 + 14 × $65 = $1,260. These are our calculations from spoken figures, not a quote from the restaurant.
Where this fits with our earlier M Hansik call
This customer first asked M Hansik about the room on September 30, in a call we published in how much a private dining room costs. That host described the deposit as "50% of the entire payment," and we could not work out a single dollar amount from the recording.
On the October 1 follow up, the assistant asked "how do you take the 50% deposit?" and the answer was a flat $1,000 at the time of booking. That is a clearer answer, but it is still a spoken one. The call did not establish whether the $1,000 is credited to the final bill, when the balance is due, or what is refundable if the date or headcount changes. Ask for those terms in the contract.
M Hansik and other Durham private dining options for a company dinner
The same customer compared several Durham restaurants for the same night. Vin Rouge comes from the two new calls on this page. The other four rows come from the September 30 calls in our private dining room cost guide, where their recordings and transcripts live. Party sizes differ: those calls asked about 10 guests.
| Restaurant | Space discussed for November 5 | Room fee | Food and drink | Deposit or card | How to book |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| M Hansik (Oct 1) | Enclosed private room, up to 35 | $350 | About $65 per person, set menu | $1,000 at booking | Email the events team, then a contract |
| Vin Rouge (Oct 1 and 7) | Private outdoor garden, "totally covered and heated," available for 12 to 14 | "We don't do any room fees" | A food and beverage minimum; amount not given before the recording ended | Not discussed | The events manager emails menus, the minimum and photos |
| The Lenny (Sep 30, for 10) | Private events room | $1,500 quoted to rent the room; whether it counts toward food is unclear | Buffet or sit down packages | A deposit and a card on file once confirmed | Events coordinator by email |
| Mateo Bar de Tapas (Sep 30, for 10) | Upstairs already reserved; downstairs could seat 10 | None for 10 | Family style and the event planner start at 12 | Card on file | Regular table by phone; private room through the events coordinator |
| Nikos (Sep 30, for 10) | Private space already booked; a table set apart "probably" | Not discussed | Not discussed | Not discussed | 5:00 or 7:30 offered, not 6:00 |
| Seraphine (Sep 30, for 10) | Not discussed on the phone | Not discussed | Not discussed | Not discussed | Email the restaurant |
Prices and availability are what staff said on those dates.
Vin Rouge: a covered, heated garden with no room fee
Vin Rouge is at 2010 Hillsborough Road, Durham. Its official private events page lists (919) 416-0466, the number both calls dialed, and describes two private dining rooms plus indoor and outdoor event spaces. The page does not mention the garden by name or list capacities, minimums or deposits.
On October 1 at about 9:52 pm Eastern, the assistant asked for a fully private room for 12 on November 5 from 6 to 9 pm. The host fetched the events manager, who said she had "availability outside in our garden that is private, it's totally covered and heated." She offered to email "all the information, menu, food and beverage minimum and photos," and said "we only do food and beverage minimum" and "we don't do any room fees." She went to check the minimum, and the recording ends before she gives it.
On October 7 at about 5:56 pm Eastern, the assistant called back to ask whether the garden was still free for 12 to 14 guests. After a hold, the events manager said "Yes, it's still available." Asked to pencil it in under the customer's name and company, she said "Yes. I will just take your information, I will send you everything by email," and took the customer's email address. The recording ends while she is reading the addresses back.
| Detail | What the two Vin Rouge calls established |
|---|---|
| Number dialed | (919) 416-0466, matching the official private events page |
| Space | Private outdoor garden, covered and heated |
| Availability | Available for 12 on October 1; still available for 12 to 14 on October 7 |
| Room fee | None |
| Minimum | A food and beverage minimum exists; the amount was not given in either recording |
| Deposit | Not discussed |
| Hold | Staff said "Yes" to penciling it in and took an email address; no written hold was confirmed in the recording |
What these calls did not establish
- No booking was made at either restaurant. M Hansik declined to hold the room until it received an email. Vin Rouge's "Yes" on October 7 is a spoken answer, and the recording does not include a hold confirmation or any document.
- M Hansik's deposit terms are incomplete. The $1,000 figure came with no word on crediting, refunds or a cancellation deadline.
- "Up to 35" was the answer to a question about seated capacity. The host did not say "seated," and did not say whether the room has a minimum headcount.
- The set menu itself was not discussed. Neither were drinks, tax, gratuity or service charges at M Hansik.
- Vin Rouge's minimum and deposit are unknown. Both recordings end before those answers. We also did not confirm that the promised emails arrived.
- No human listening verification is claimed. The transcripts were reviewed against the saved call text and independent automatic transcriptions.

Listen to the first Vin Rouge call (2 minutes 55 seconds)

A short hold, about 14 seconds.
Representative: Hey, good evening. Thank you for waiting. This is [staff name muted]. Can I help you?

Another pause while she checks, about 14 seconds.

AI agent: Okay.
Representative: I can, if you want, I can take your email and I can send you all the information, menu, food and beverage minimum and photos by email.
AI agent: Yeah, I'd love that. The email is [customer email address muted].

AI agent: Great.

Representative: Let me check. Give me just one second.
The recording ends at 2:55 while she checks, before the minimum is given.
Listen to the second Vin Rouge call (2 minutes 55 seconds)
The complete recording keeps the 41 second hold. Names, the customer's company and both of the customer's email addresses are muted. One muted stretch covers the staff member saying and spelling her name, and may also cover a brief word around it.
- 0:13 "Do you mind going on just a brief hold?"
- 0:58 The events manager picks up
- 1:22 "Yes, it's still available"
- 1:25 "Could you pencil it in?" Then: "Yes. I will just take your information, I will send you everything by email"
- 2:38 "Do you mind to just tell me those emails one more time?" The recording ends at 2:55

How to book M Hansik's private room
- Call (919) 813-2338 during dinner hours and press 3 if you want to ask questions first. Staff will send you to email for the booking itself.
- Email mhansikdurham@gmail.com with the date, time, headcount and the occasion. That is the address staff gave on October 1; it is not published on the restaurant's website, so confirm it on the phone if your email bounces.
- Ask the contract to state the room fee, the set menu price per person, the $1,000 deposit, how the deposit is credited, the cancellation deadline and what happens if the headcount changes.
- Do not treat a phone conversation as a hold. At M Hansik, the contract comes after the email.
Where our caller fell short
- It said "next year" at Vin Rouge for a date five weeks away. The events manager had to ask whether it meant 2027 or next month.
- It led with "the 50% deposit" at M Hansik instead of asking openly. The answer was different anyway, but an open question is cleaner.
- It never got Vin Rouge's minimum. The first recording ends while the events manager checks, and the second call put the hold ahead of the money questions.
Ask your assistant to plan the dinner
Connect call4me to your assistant with the Claude Code guide or the Codex guide. This brief is a suggestion, not what the customer used.
Call M Hansik in Durham at (919) 813-2338, press 3 for a team member, and ask about the private room for [number] guests on [day, date] at [time]. Confirm the room is enclosed, the seated capacity, the room fee, the set menu price per person and the deposit. Ask whether the deposit is credited to the final bill and what the cancellation terms are. Get the events email and read it back letter by letter. Do not give a card or agree to any charge; say I will email to book. Then call Vin Rouge at (919) 416-0466 and ask the same questions about their private spaces, including the food and beverage minimum. Put both answers in one table, with anything unconfirmed marked.
