Veterinary consultation information, $600 initial fee and no booking made

Before booking a veterinary behavior consultation, you may want to know whether the practice handles the concern, when the requested provider is available, what the initial fee covers and whether the owner must attend. An information call can collect those answers without committing to a visit.

Your existing personal assistant can gather those answers through call4me. Connect it with the Claude Code guide or Codex guide, then specify that you want information before deciding. These are suggested workflows; the saved customer call does not identify its client.

On October 6, 2026, a veterinary practice called back a call4me customer's assistant about a senior dog that bites during eye cleaning. The representative said the practice could help with that type of handling issue and discuss a plan at the first visit, while making clear that one visit might not resolve it.

For the requested provider, the representative gave November 30 at 9 AM as the earliest visit at the clinic and quoted $600 for the initial consultation, payable as the deposit to book. No appointment was booked, held or paid for. These were the practice's historical answers to this customer's questions.

0:08 Representative: Hello, this is [name removed] calling from [clinic name removed]

0:11 AI agent: Hi, hello?

0:15 Representative: Hello, this is [name removed] calling you back from [clinic name removed]

0:18 AI agent: Oh great, thanks for calling back! Yeah, I called about getting that set up.

0:24 Representative: Yes, um, I could set up the appointment with you for your boss, but your boss has to be the person that actually shows up with the dog at the time of the appointment

0:35 AI agent: Okay, I understand. So what would that look like since, since we're not booking yet, just gathering info for [name removed] to review.

0:44 Representative: Yeah, that's

0:45 AI agent: Yeah,

0:45 Representative: fine

0:45 AI agent: so could I ask a few quick questions, like

0:47 Representative: Okay

0:47 AI agent: availability, cost,

0:49 Representative: Sure

0:49 AI agent: and requirements?

0:53 Representative: Sure. Um, availability, um, the first available appointment I have with [provider name removed] is gonna be Monday, November 2nd... The first available appointment I have with [provider name removed] is gonna be several weeks later

1:11 AI agent: Mm hmm.

1:12 Representative: with [provider name removed] on the 23rd Um, in order to get with [provider name removed], we're looking at the 30th of November

1:24 AI agent: Okay. Um, and does

1:27 Representative: Okay, requirements would be, okay, like I said, the owner actually has to be involved. We don't do assistant training dogs type things. Um, We require a deposit of six hundred dollars, which is the initial consultation

1:46 AI agent: Okay.

1:46 Representative: fee. In order to book an, appointment. Okay? And then um, we're requirements, I mean, you're gonna have to be involved if you're not involved, it's not going to work. Um... You know, that's really about it. Um, We'll put together a plan for treatment and for uh, behavior modification training. Um, after your first initial consultation, uh, that'll be kind of when you'll know more about what we what we're gonna be doing. Being I don't know anything about your pet, you know

2:24 AI agent: Right. Okay, yeah, that makes sense. And uh, does [provider name removed] handle cases like a senior dog biting during eye cleaning?

2:38 Representative: Mm, yeah. Those are body handling issues, and, uh, we can definitely assist with that

2:44 AI agent: Okay. So for the immediate need, to clean her eyes safely, can that be addressed at the first visit?

2:51 Representative: Yeah... Yes, ma'am. It can be addressed. Um, we're gonna talk about that and we're gonna put a plan together for, um, further training. But, um... I don't know that we'd be able to resolve it in one go

3:08 AI agent: Right. Okay. Um, do you need a referral from their regular vet or any

3:16 Representative: No, we do

3:16 AI agent: Okay,

3:16 Representative: not

3:17 AI agent: okay. And any records

3:18 Representative: No

3:19 AI agent: or forms before the visit?

3:22 Representative: We, yes, we'll have, um, forms that I'll send out the day that you make the appointment and um, those forms will need to be back in a couple weeks. And um, I will gather the uh, medical records. Um, when we're closer to the appointment time

3:41 AI agent: Okay. Do you happen to do house calls or is it only in clinic?

3:46 Representative: Yes, [provider name removed], and [provider name removed] both do house calls. Um, the house call, there is an extra fee. The extra fee is the drive time there. So that won't, won't be able to tell you what the extra fee is until we know how far away you are. You know what I

4:02 AI agent: Right.

4:02 Representative: mean? Um, and then we can give you an estimate of what it's going to cost

4:09 AI agent: Sure. Okay, uh, could we also

4:12 Representative: Mm hm

4:12 AI agent: ask what the total expected cost is for that first visit including extra fees or possible medication

4:21 Representative: Okay... Um, there's, yes, there's always a possibility of medication, so I wouldn't be able to tell you, um, exactly, but I would say under a hundred dollars for medications. Um... You know, should be well under a hundred dollars, but I mean, you know... Uh... Trying to think of what else they could do. I mean, if we pull blood or did something like that, you could be talking a couple more hundred dollars, but that would be disclosed to the owner prior to us doing anything. You know, we'll give you an estimate. We'll let you know how much it is. Um, if it's indicated, you know, I'm just trying to think of what else we could possibly do during the first, you know, um... appointment that would cost you money, but the six hundred dollars is the initial consultation fee, and that pretty much covers everything you're going to have that day, um, unless there's outside recommendations, like for medications or um, testing, and then you decide to test with our clinic instead of going to your regular clinic. It's totally up to you on which you do

5:30 AI agent: I see. Okay. Um, and for the in clinic appointment, when's the earliest?

5:39 Representative: Um, the earliest in clinic appointment that I can get you, uh, that with [provider name removed] or with either doctor

5:48 AI agent: With uh [provider name removed].

5:52 Representative: Okay. The November 30th would be the earliest that I can get you in

5:56 AI agent: And just to confirm,

5:57 Representative: At 9

5:58 AI agent: Okay,

5:58 Representative: AM

5:58 AI agent: 9:00 a.m. And just to confirm, if [name removed] wants to book later, the deposit would be 600?

6:08 Representative: Yes, ma'am

6:09 AI agent: Okay, great. I think that's everything for now, um, since [name removed] will review the

6:14 Representative: Mm- '

6:14 AI agent: options

6:14 Representative: kay

6:14 AI agent: and call you back if they want to move forward.

6:19 Representative: Okay... All righty, that sounds fantastic

6:21 AI agent: Great! Thank you so much. Take care, bye!

6:25 Representative: You too

6:25 AI agent: Bye.

6:26 Representative: , bye

What did this veterinary behavior consultation quote cover?

The assistant asked what the first visit might cost beyond the consultation. Staff described possible additional medication or testing charges and said estimates would be discussed before proceeding. A house call would also have a travel fee that could not be calculated without knowing the distance.

That left the total cost unresolved. The useful answer was the initial consultation fee and the categories of possible extras, rather than a single promised total.

The call also mentioned another provider's availability, but that part of the conversation included an unclear additional date. The requested provider's November 30 at 9 AM answer was repeated explicitly. The article does not turn the uncertain alternative into a confirmed opening.

Questions to collect before deciding

  1. Does the practice see the kind of concern you are describing?
  2. What can the first consultation address, and what might need later visits?
  3. What is the earliest appointment with your requested provider?
  4. What does the initial fee include, and what could cost extra?
  5. Are a referral, forms or existing medical records needed?
  6. Does the owner need to attend, and are remote visits or house calls offered?
  7. What deposit is required if you later decide to book?

This call gathered scheduling and service information. It did not assess the dog's condition, establish how urgent care was or provide a treatment plan.

Let your existing assistant gather the answers

call4me adds phone calls to the assistant you already use. Start with the Claude Code guide or Codex guide. These are suggested workflows; the saved call does not establish which client was used.

Use call4me to contact [veterinary practice] for information about a consultation for [brief description of concern]. Ask whether they see this type of case, the earliest opening with [provider], the initial fee, possible additional costs, referral and records requirements, and who must attend. Ask what can be addressed at the first visit without assuming it will resolve the problem. Do not book, hold an appointment or pay a deposit. Return the answers and anything they could not confirm.
