La Mar San Francisco reservations: a same night table by phone
An automated greeter transferred the call to staff, who booked two people for 7 PM that night and said a text confirmation would follow.
La Mar San Francisco is at Pier 1 1/2, The Embarcadero N, San Francisco, CA 94111, and its phone number is 415 397 8880. That is the number on La Mar's official San Francisco page (lamarsf.com redirects there), and it is the number the call below dialed. The same page links to OpenTable for online booking. You may see the restaurant called La Mar Cocina Peruana San Francisco or La Mar Cebichería; on this call the automated greeting said "La Mar Cocina Peruana", and the staff member's greeting sounds like "La Mar Cebichería".
On Friday, October 2, 2026, at about 6:30 PM Pacific, a call4me customer's assistant called La Mar SF to book a table for two that night. The customer preferred 7:00 PM and would accept anything from 6:45 to 7:30 PM, including bar, patio or ceviche bar seating.
An automated greeter answered, offered Spanish, and transferred the call to a person. A staff member picked up about 34 seconds into the recording, checked availability, took a callback number, rode out a frozen computer and booked two people for 7:00 PM that night. Staff said the customer would get a text confirmation.
Calling La Mar SF: what to expect
- Dial 415 397 8880. On this call, the first voice said: "Hi, thanks for calling La Mar Cocina Peruana. Just so you know, we're speaking on a recorded line. También puede hablarme en español. How can I help?"
- Say what you want. The assistant asked for a table for two tonight around seven. The greeter replied: "Let me transfer you to a person who can help. Stay on the line if you'd like to speak to someone."
- Wait through the transfer. There was a tone and a few seconds of quiet. A staff member answered at about 0:34, with no keypad menu and no hold music.
The official page lists dinner hours of 5 PM to 9 PM Sunday through Thursday and 5 PM to 9:30 PM Friday and Saturday, lunch daily from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM, and happy hour Monday to Friday from 3 PM to 5 PM. Those are the hours shown when we checked on October 16, 2026. The page also points large group dining and event requests to a separate contact form.

Staff asked for a phone number first, not a name. After the computer trouble, they asked for the number again, and the customer's name came up on their screen. The assistant confirmed it was the right name.
What this call did not establish
- The text confirmation itself. Staff said one would be sent. The recording cannot show that it arrived.
- Seating. The customer allowed bar, patio or ceviche bar seating, but staff never said where the table was.
- Policies. Deposits, card holds, cancellation fees and how long the table would be held were not discussed.
- Typical availability. One Friday at 6:30 PM had a 7:00 PM table for two. That says nothing about other nights, larger groups or how busy La Mar usually is.
- The later visit. The recording ends with the booking. It does not show that the customer dined there.

Tips for a same night La Mar SF booking
Ask for a person in your first sentence. The greeter here moved to a transfer as soon as it heard a reservation request. Saying "table for two tonight around seven" up front was enough.
Have the callback number ready, and expect to repeat it. La Mar's staff booked against a phone number and read the matching name back from it. When the computer stalled, they asked for the number a second time. A caller that has the number in its brief can repeat it without stopping to ask you.
Give a window and seating limits before the call. This customer allowed 6:45 to 7:30 PM and bar, patio or ceviche bar seating. The 7:00 PM slot happened to be open, so none of that flexibility was needed, but it would have let the assistant accept an alternative without calling you back.
Ask about anything you care about before hanging up. If seating location, a deposit or a cancellation fee matters, put it in the brief so the caller asks. This call ended once the time was confirmed.

If you use Claude Code or Codex, connect call4me with the Claude Code guide or the Codex guide. The brief below is a suggestion, not the one the customer used, and the recording does not establish which client placed the call.
Call La Mar San Francisco at 415 397 8880 (Pier 1 1/2, The Embarcadero) to book a table for [number] on [date]. Prefer [time], but accept [earliest] through [latest]. Bar, patio or ceviche bar seating is [fine / not fine]. If the greeter answers, ask for a person. Use the name and callback number I give you privately, and repeat the number if asked. Ask where we are seated and whether there is a deposit or cancellation fee. Confirm the final date, time and party size, and don't book outside my window.
