An AI agent that makes phone calls and gets tasks done for you
Give your assistant the outcome you want, let it call the business, and check what was actually confirmed. Start with a practical task guide and a reusable prompt.
An AI agent that makes phone calls can help you get an errand done while keeping the planning in the assistant you already use. With call4me, your assistant can call a business to ask about prices, check availability, request an appointment or follow up on an order. You provide the goal and the choices it can make. It brings the conversation's result back to your task.
For example, “find a pool I can visit after work” needs more than a list of nearby gyms. Your assistant needs to check guest access, the price and whether the pool is open during your visit. “Get my car aligned” might start with comparing quotes, then become a booking after you choose a shop and authorize a time.
How to have an AI assistant call for you #
- Connect your assistant. Use the call4me installation page, or follow the dedicated Claude Code calling guide or Codex calling guide.
- Describe the result you need. Include the business or search area, relevant dates, budget and details needed to answer the question. For an existing order or appointment, supply the reference privately.
- Set its decision limits. Say whether it should gather options or may commit to a particular booking, hold or change. Include acceptable alternatives and any fees you authorize.
- Have it research and call. Ask it to use official information first, verify the branch number, then call for missing details. It should bring a question back to you if the business needs a decision outside your instructions.
- Check the result and next step. Ask for what staff confirmed, what remains unresolved and the transcript or available recording. If you only authorized research, choose what to do next before asking it to act.
Your assistant needs web access for web research. call4me supplies the phone conversation; separate actions such as updating a calendar depend on your assistant's other tools and your instructions.
Choose a task for your AI phone agent #
Each guide below gives the details to supply, questions to ask and a way to check the outcome. Recorded calls in the task guides show both useful answers and incomplete attempts. A previous result is evidence of that conversation, not a guarantee for your business or visit.
| What you need done | Start with these task guides |
|---|---|
| Compare car service options | Check wheel alignment quotes. For oil changes, use the Walmart price workflow or Les Schwab service availability guide. |
| Prepare for a medical visit | Use the blood work cost comparison for administrative pricing questions, or the new primary care doctor guide to check availability and intake requirements. |
| Arrange pet care | Compare dog teeth cleaning estimates, then use the vet drop off appointment guide when you need to discuss a visit. |
| Get a useful project quote | Start with furniture refinishing or couch reupholstery. The supplier quote workflow explains how to keep questions consistent across businesses. |
| Find somewhere to exercise | Check gym and pool day passes or sauna access. For an existing membership, use the Crunch cancellation guide to establish the required steps. |
| Finish a shopping errand | Use the store stock and order pickup guide for availability questions, or the same day dress shoe workflow when you want to find and request a hold on a specific item. |
| Resolve a subscription task | Use the SiriusXM cancellation guide to prepare the account questions and distinguish cancellation instructions from a completed cancellation. |
For scheduling across other businesses, the AI appointment booking guide includes a reusable brief and confirmation checklist.
A prompt for an agent that calls and does things for you #
Copy this into your connected assistant and replace the brackets:
Help me complete [task]. The result I need is [specific outcome] by [date and local time]. My location or business is [details], my budget is [limit], and my acceptable alternatives are [choices]. Check official information first and use call4me to call up to [number] businesses for anything still missing. Introduce yourself as my assistant. You may share [specific details] and may take these actions without asking again: [explicit permissions, or research only]. Ask me before making any other commitment. Return the business and branch, what staff confirmed, any unresolved questions, the transcript or available recording, and the next step. Do not mark the task complete unless the requested outcome was confirmed.
An appointment request should include dates the agent can accept. A price comparison should name the same service at each business. A shopping request should include the exact item, acceptable substitutes and whether a hold is authorized. These details turn a broad request into a call the business can answer.
What counts as getting the task done? #
Use the outcome you asked for as the check. A quoted price completes a pricing inquiry, but does not book the service. An appointment option becomes a booking when staff confirms it. An item in stock becomes a hold only when the store agrees to set it aside. Cancellation instructions still leave the cancellation to complete.
If the call reaches voicemail, staff cannot verify the account or a published rule conflicts with the phone answer, have the agent state what is missing. You can then provide the detail, join the conversation when needed or choose another approach. Keep any later payment, collection, attendance or calendar update distinct from what the phone call established.
Start with one errand using call4me's setup prompt, choose the relevant guide above and give your assistant a clear definition of done.
